I just feel bad for Mark Hamill. He seems very disappointed at his meager part as are we all.

Why they left it so long to make a sequel we'll never know.

X2

I also believe he didn't know the outcome of Luke Skywalker (his death) at the end of the movie and that's why he looked so shocked after the preview.

The original cast were there purely to help transition the franchise to a new generation. That's crystal clear.

Disney is targeting a very different audience than the one's that helped build it. Sadly, character depth and story line have lost out to special effects and dreadful plots.

I've said it before but these make the prequels look good, at least they felt like Star Wars no matter how cheesy.

Negs

No back ground story to Snoke was just crap...so disappointing.

Was expecting way more from Luke.

To much SJW influence.

That woman who was guarding the escape pods becoming an instant crack pilot.

Rae's instant skill with the light saber wtf.

WTF was the point of the whole casino thing? another pointless story arc with Yoda horses :/

Unforgettable characters I couldn't get invested in.

Positives.

Luke and Falcon/R2 moment

Luke and Yoda

Luke and Leia

Chewie and those Penguin things.

agree with most of that,a few more WTF's

the Luke green milk scene instantly felt like a SNL skit,Leia waking up and flying through space was mega cringe LOL

and yeah the asian girl/tumblr nerd was annoying as hell

overall the whole thing felt like a pisstake monty python film

next one is Solo, another flop I think

  • 2 weeks later...

I havn't laughed so much during a Starwars movie before... ever!.

BB8 repairing the ship during the opening scene by shorting everything out... hysterical.

Ships so big that you are relying on "their own gravity" for the bombs to drop.. WTF... so they can impact on the ship... oh but even worse... let's group so close together and move so slowly that we won't even reach the target... WTF!!!!!

The crack pilot taking out every gun on the a fore mentioned ship, don't really need a battle group in the movie at all.

Won't even go with the whole fuel, fly slow routine... Oh here's an idea, we have heaps of imperial ships here why don't we send one at lightspeed out in front to intercept... doh!.

I too thought Leigha was going to be written out due to the sad reality she passed... perfect opportunity.. but no... WTF.

the only saving grace in that whole movie was Rey, apart from the fact she is cute, she can act circles around the others.

I also loved the last battle effects of the advance on the trenches... other than that it was utter crap.

When there isn't much competition, you'll eat dirt.

People seeing the new Star Wars for the first time starting from The Force Awakens think it's terrific.

That's 1999 to 2015, a 16 year wait. A long time for a youth reset and serve up the same story.

Gross USD sales are as follows:

1. The Force Awakens 937 million

2. The Last Jedi 620 million

3. Rogue One 532 million

4. The Phantom Menace 431 million

5. Revenge of the Sith 380 million

6. Star Wars 307 million

7. Attack of the Clones 302 million

8. Return of the Jedi 252 million

9. The Empire Strikes Back 209 million

The numbers above really tell the story. An amazing increase in revenue with each release of the franchise.

Anyway, just for a bit of light hearted fun, a very clever lip and song production, and I'm tired of you Phil ...

"They've got the ultimate power in the universe" ... :020:

I've noticed on social media the younger generation calling everybody who didn't like this movie a "hater" for having an opinion. Ironically they can't see they are doing exactly the same.

If you don't agree, you're a hater, racist, homophobe or some other popular word. You can't have a reasoned discussion or even raise a question anymore.

I also liked it, saw it with my son when it opened and we had a blast. I grew up with the originals and saw Empire when it came out at the movies. I don't take it as seriously as some - I mean you can pick heaps of holes in the original trilogy, and the dialogue is clunky at best. Same with this one - but I still loved it.

The producers are faced with an almost impossible task in pleasing the die-hards, making something original-ish and bringing in a new audience, and I reckon they did a pretty fine job.

I'm gonna say The Last Jedi is in my top 3 Star Wars movies so far.

I did like that Rogue One plugged one of the biggest holes in the original movie.

I enjoyed Last Jedi for the most part. There were a few things, like Leia in space, that irked me, but I took a breath and let them slide.

I mean, we let the whole "Things in space don't make noise but they do in movies" thing slide in general, so what's a few bombs and ships reacting to gravity that isn't there?
