  • 1 year later...

It has been quite a while since I posted on this forum. My kids, change in job, etc all brought an end to my cab build - but the enjoyment of playing some of the old classics on my prototypes lived on. That led me to buying the Stratco unit as a quick fix - a great price for what seems to be a very well built setup.

What impressed me:

  • 18mm thick MDF
  • Very clean internal layout
  • EASY ACCESS - there are even openable (and locked) panels beneath each of the control ends (I can see myself retrofitting some of the parts I bought years ago here)
  • 60-in-1 is well configured - slick menu, as soon as you finish a game it returns to menu, no obvious lag anywhere, etc
  • Impressive sound
  • No crappy games - rather than 50 copies of the same game (okay a little exaggerated, but still most x-in-1 units have a lot of junk) they are mostly all really good

Average:

  • Screen viewing angles
  • Hum/interference in the audio when no sound

Bad:

  • The second speaker grill is for visual balance, there is nothing behind it LOL :D
  • The cooling fan (actually extraction fan) is incredibly loud - easily replaced

So now on with some pics...

I replaced the fan with a maglev unit a couple weeks ago - not only reduced the fan noise but as an unexpected bonus eliminated the hum/interference that was present in the audio when no sound was playing.
