Cactus Canyon Restore and Pimp

Recommended Posts

Well finally got a Cactus Canyon from a member here in Victoria.

Great bloke and smooth sale.

I had been chasing one for about 7 or 8 years.

Always wrong place , wrong time.

You know how it is.

The condition is not bad but needs new cabinet art, which I also got with the sale.

It plays really well, but could look a lot better.

The playfield is quite good but has usual wear and some bog near the slings.

All metal parts original and dull, one plastic ramp broken , and a few ramp decals stuffed.

It has quite thick mylar , which I hate , but quite easy to solve , I guess.

I will remove the playfield and start the cabinet first.

Pulled the playfield out and removed the back box and started to strip it down.

Got the heat gun out and peeled off the old decals.

Came off reasonably easily, however , did leave quite a glue residue.

I like to sand ,fill, sand ,sand and sand then send it to the pro's for priming, sealing and a good ol bake in the oven.

I can never get the result they do and no longer try to.

Cheers @FLAIMBOY

Ready to prime,seal and bake.

Then ready for new cabinet decals to be put on a perfectly prepared surface.

I did mention pimped, so the Legs,Back Box hinges, Rails, Lock down bar and shooter rod housing are off to the chrome platers.

I also have a Chrome Door from PDI with coin door decal, some speaker inserts and a color LED DMD to install.

The pull down starts.

All metal posts, screws, nuts ,brackets, ramp ,flaps scoops etc to be tumbled and or polished and in some cases, Ill even re do inside ball scoops.

The aim is to get every metal part in the game looking new.

Then flame polish the ramps and add a few new ramp decals.

Put everything I could into the tumbler.

Everything was greatly improved and a final hand polish will be done on the bigger items, as reinstalled.

Picked it up from a local gun shop.

I have had it running 48hrs straight several times, no complaints

It was only about $80 ,worth every cent.

SmartReloader Dream Tumbler S787 220V

Description

This new SR787 Dream Tumbler from Smartreloader features a new design and an excellent tumbling action as the model SR100.

It came with a corn media and I have tried others, but the corn seems to work really well.

I also add some metal polish to the mix.

It is a pain in the arse picking out the small stuff out of screw heads etc,but the result is great.
