Out Run Arcade intermittent controls

retrofalcon

Question

Hi all, I'm new to posting here, just got an Out Run upright cabinet, has a few issues that should be easy enough, but...the thing that is messing with me is the controls.

Cleaned and tested all the pots, they were and still are working.

The game worked for a day, now the controls have all stopped

In diagnostics they all say the same value

HANDLE RIGHT LEFT 06H

BRAKE 06H

ACCELE 06H

The value is different every time i turn the machine on

Every now and then it will start working, continuity from all the wires continues all the way to the board and along the circuit,

Any ideas?!?

Pretty sure like Daytona the pots must all work or none will work. Check each pot has resistance that is going up and down the scale as you turn that pot. Sounds like you have one pot that has a faulty wiper.

Make sure you disconnect from the board before testing.

No need to disconnect the wiring from the pots to test.

Just the center terminal to one end terminal of each pot with your meter should show the problem.

Remember, all the pots are wired in series so if one pot is faulty, the whole system fails.
