Reset of 10,000 score reel

Recommended Posts

Hey

Got a Target Alpha which after a lot of fiddling and cleaning have now 99% working.

When starting a game the player 2, 10,000 score reel will not reset to zero therefore will not start a game, once I reset the score reel back to zero manually the game resets and plays as it should, I have cleaned all the points and checked the gaps and all "seems" ok, probably something simple but stuffed if I can work it out, any tips on fixing this please?

Have yo tried swapping some reels around to see if the problem travels?

To much pressure on the contact. Back the pressure off the contact that detects the 0 position on that score reel and your problem will go.

After turning off the machine, manually click the score reel around using your finger working the coil you will feel when it tries to click over to the 0 position, the effort required increases.

This is normal, it has to work another set of contacts but if this contact has to much back pressure, you get the symptom, a reel not going from 9 to 0.

While working the reel manually, have a close look at what is actually happening and you will see in the position 9-0 position this set of contacts working.

Just back the pressure off these contacts slightly while still maintaining there normal open and close operation.

You may need to re-adjust a couple of times before it and you are happy.

will be one contact in the 2nd player on the player unit. one of the switches is either dirty, not closing or has a broken wire

Thanks for the responses, I have cleaned and adjusted all the switches for the second player, 1 switch was closed when n it shouldn't have been, that was rectified but still not resetting, I noticed on the back of the disk thing (no idea what its called) that the wire that runs through the solder has a gap in it, is this normal?980a62fe521d98e02af6282b2a02430f.jpg

Does the reel try to step during the reset and the score motor just keeps running?

No, the score reel does not even attempt to reset, when playing a game the score reel works as it should.

If the score reel is on any number other than zero the motor in the bottom of the cabinet keeps running.

If the score reel is on any number other than zero the motor in the bottom of the cabinet keeps running.

On a score reel, there's are 2 or 3 switches. The zero pos, the runout and on those with it a higher digit, the 9 pos. The runout switch is the one that stays closed for every position except 0. While the machine is resetting, the runout switch should be closed until the reel gets to zero, then it should open.

If the runout switch does not close, the reel will not step during reset. If the zero switch isn't closed, the motor keeps running. This sounds like your issue.

The wireform should be in the middle:

The wireform should move to one side at 0 (only closing the 0), the other extreme at 9 (closing both the 9pos and runout) and for the remaining reel positions, only the runout switch should be closed.

Zero pos firmly closed, runout open, 9 pos open:
