Jamma Harness Quality

Recommended Posts

I had to make up a new Jamma harness from a loom that was stripped out of a cab.

This is one of those recent cheap Chinese looms you get for under $20 off ebay.

The biggest weakness of these harnesses is the power supply cables.

Though they look thick on the outside they are all insulation and only a very thin strand of wire inside.

This can/will cause current flow/voltage drop issues in your cab.

You can see in the image below that the original wire is the same size as the upgrade on the outside but the new wire has a larger conductor.

The cable I use is 3mm auto (because that's what I have readily available) but anything with similar conductor size is an improvement on the original.

This obviously needs to be run all the way to the power supply.

I usually solder the terminals at the power supply as well.

Far out! Interesting, I'm about to make a new loom for mine as the stock one is starting to let go. Any recommendations as to the jamma connector? I've seen quite a few out there and assume similarly that they vary a lot in quality.
