What pins have been coming thru the Dedshed

Recommended Posts

Question for Roland but also in general.

I normally use glass type soft/comfort bright sunlight or cool whites, depending on machine.

None of this glaring SMD super bright stare into your soul led for gi.

Can't have GI bulbs glaring in the player's eyes. You could get away with it with incandescent bulbs doing it but not LEDs.

Easiest way I found was putting a black dot on the bulb with a black marker. They are LEDs so the dot only needs to be small like 3mm in diameter making it near impossible to spot but you get that dot in the right location on the bulb and the problem is gone. You still see the bulb in the player's position yes, but not the intense beam that is blinding. The black dot blocks it.

The more extreme solution is fitting high reach bulb holders so the bulb is mounted higher and hopefully now blocked by the plastics.

I just stand in the player's position and look. Any LED bulb in the GI I can see, (you'll spot them straight away), gets the black dot treatment with a marker pen. Because LEDs have such a concentrated light source inside the bulb, only a small dot is required.

Down the bottom of the playfield however, the dot needs to be larger because you do move as you play. This is where I usually go with the mounting the bulb up higher solution especially the lower bulb under slingshots

Or, you know.

Use the comfort bright as I stated. No problem.

Then even diffuse with frosted globe.

No more do you need to have a blinding gi led.

Some people still don’t get it.

Buy the correct type for the job.

As you know Edy, I am a virgin...lol

I sourced some new bulbs from Pinball Haus 20 minutes after your helpful post / answer

Picking them up tomorrow less than 24 hours from your post

Will start on Trident next

Need to clean old connectors / bulb mounts? first.

Initial start to a working project

Thanx for help once again....

Swapped over all the ramp bits and cable tied wiring.

Added the decals.

Just need to polish all the metal.

Pre fit the ramp. Tight fit with the extra rubber protectors at the post.

Looking nice with new ramp.

(Only sitting on to check)

This is the tedious part, the detailing.

Polished switch brackets, screws and whatever.

Run the wiring through the holes and tidy up.

Solder up the flashers and re do switches.

Just need to finish up the ramp protectors.

Edy

Just wondering what size rivet you use ? Is there one size that

Will do the majority of riveting on the PF ?

Cheers Doug

I need to find out and get more.

Most likely 1/8th

There’s 5 different lengths in this kit.
