      1950's Genco Fortune Teller restoration

      here is the restoration thread.

Gypsy grandma removed from genco fortune teller, ready for rebuild. Her head and hands are in fantastic condition, she was a Bit seized in the mechanism from sitting for so long, but some wd40 + sitting over night she freed up and can be moved. She will still be striped down and rebuilt, but we needed her parts to free up before being able to pull her apart. Anyways how cool is this automaton? Picture of the cam system that drives her movement. This game is for sale If you want this game Send me a message, I do have this advertised in the for sale section. a deposit is requested until the item is finished

here is the body of the Grandma Automaton

Yer one motor runs the gear box, which drives the cam and the cam lobes drive the Levers that connect to the limbs and head, so it is all about timing, Im not really looking forward to setting up that timing again when putting it back together

there is another motor that drives the rotatory drum scroll dispenser

striping the old girl down, ready to clean it up, man I love this machine, its so cool
They were very clever with how they made this machine electrically and mechanically, they made everything unclip with harnesses, but with good access to work on the mechanics. they did think about making it easy for the operator. The transformer is on its own piece of timber on the side, four wingnuts and one hardness clip and the timber holding the transformer is removed to service.

Some of the damage to the side of the genco fortune teller
We have repaired the planking in the ply wood, glued and press clamped down the veneers that were splitting with age and some water damage which is very common on games of this age.
used an epoxy filler to seal and smooth out the most effected area on the base.
The epoxy filler is great because the epoxy seeps into the timber and hardens it.
We Copied the art work, Olivia has already made the stencils in illustrator. They will be cut tomorrow.
So here is the before picture, also the picture of the side fixed and primed, and the side repainted and speckled, ready for stenciling. While the hot weather sucked to work in, the paints dried fast which has been nice.

Laying down the stencils and putting the art back on, rather simple design on the head, Ive got the speckles down pat.
