The 4 pin plug on the AR board is an output, not an input. As JAMMA boards have Audio amplification built in, the audio section of the Atari AR board should not be required, so these wire should simple go direct to the speakers. Also, I strongly recommend you mod that AR board as it has no over voltage protection in the event of a fault.

I have wired the jamma connector straight into the speaker but it's the same problem

The sound turns on for about two seconds and then switch itself back off.

I'm thinking about cutting the wire on the 22 pin adapter maybe that's causing a problem?

Does anyone know what wire goes to what pin? http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161011/a01719f632f80d1f7822f0353cad8e68.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161011/9c1a5b96abf656818bd99536f5630778.jpg

How have you wired it into the speaker? I just had a look at the JAMMA adaptor board on Arcadeshop and you should have a 2 pin plug on the end of the brown and white wire that look like you simply need to disconnect the 2 pin plug going to the speaker and plug this one in.

Just added them to the speaker and unplugged the original wires from the speaker.

I think another issue could be the lack of +12V and -5V which Dig Dug doesn't use. Post a picture of the other side of the JAMMA adaptor.

So your thoughts are the reason the sound only lasts a few second when the machine is switched on is the lack of power

To be honest, I really don't know as I've never used one of these adaptors and can only guess how they are wired. Looking at your pictures I can't see the tracks on the JAMMA pin-out that go to pins 5 (-5V) and pin 6 (+12V) going anywhere, but have a look and see (maybe they are running the unregulated 10.5V to pin 6) :unsure. What I do know is that Atari Dig Dug PCB's don't use +12V so it's not present at the edge connector.
