Michi
While I was in San Francisco, I also checked out Musée Mécanique at Pier 45 at Fisherman's Wharf. This is a huge collection of antique coin-operated machines. Anything from fortune telling machines to animated dioramas. There are a handful of pinball machines in the collection, but the bulk of it are other (and, in many ways, more interesting) amusement machines. Entry is free, and almost everything is playable. Cost is very reasonable, most machines cost a quarter. If you get to San Francisco, check this place out, you can spend a few hours in there marvelling at what our grandparents considered state-of-the-art automation :) Michi. Michi
Looks like a great find! It's easy to spend a few hours there, just looking closely at all the machines. (I didn't count, the it's in the hundreds, I'd say.) There are some real museum pieces there. They also have vintage video arcade games, such as an Atari Star Wars (1983). I played that machine when it was released, and remember how blown away I was by the "ultra high tech" :) I played that game again, and still enjoyed it. These days, I wouldn't call it ultra high tech though :) Michi.
