15" Fuji Kiosk Conversion

Recommended Posts

Picked this up from the Trading Section here a month or so ago and thought I'd share the conversion. Not a lot a detail as most of it is self-explanatory.

1 - Original look. Actually I forgot to take a picture of this one (I bought 2 different ones together) so this is a sample which actually looks better than the one I got.

2 - Inside has the power supply, PC, tiny little speakers, a receipt printer plus extra optical drive and memory card readers. Also the unit was pretty filthy with dust.

3 - Power Supply and tinny right hand speaker.

spacer.png

4 - Rear of device with extra power options

spacer.png

5 - Tore out the printer

spacer.png

6 - This left plenty of room for a sub and a pair of satellites that actually fit in too

spacer.png

7 - Took PC out and stripped everything down for cleaning including taking the door off.

spacer.png

8 - Sprayed the door fascia with navy blue enamel spray paint. The cabinet itself is in really good shape so I left that colour as cream and just cleaned it all and removed stickers etc.

9 - Put everything back together, took out excess wiring, cable tied, strapped down and speakers fitted. The speakers can be brought outside of the cabinet if desired. I had the satellites out and the sub in and it sounds really good. Inside also sounds fine. If I was going to keep this one I'd put higher wattage speakers as when on full they distort however that is REALLY loud so not really an issue just me being fussy.

10 - I re-purposed the original front panel, drilling in a speaker grill then covering the lot with speaker fabric before remounting. It looks really nice imo.

11 - I rebuilt the PC from scratch with a fresh install. I then included a TONNE of touchscreen pub, quiz, slots and other games along with Simple Touch FE. Haven't bothered sorting out the menu system yet. Not sure I will. I then installed imo the best Touchscreen Album Jukebox software around E-Touch Jukebox. Here is the final result.

Damn not sure why the sideways look. I pre-rotated and my PC has them the right way. I hate phones.

Cheers,

Brad

Yeah I'm not sure if it would be worth it of the touchscreen is kaput unless you picked up a cheapie off ebay or something. They make an excellent easily portable jukebox though!

I also upgraded the HDD to a 1TB one. This machine is a little older and was running Win XP. I just did a fresh install of XP on it. Any more and I reckon it might struggle a little. Just don't connect it to the internet would be my recommendation.

The current ELO drivers support XP up to Windows 7 from memory and then they have newer ones for 8 and 10. Might actually be an all in one driver if I remember correctly.

Just an update. When I bought this I actually bought 2 but the second one was a newer model. I'm keeping this new one and will sell the one above.

The new one runs windows 7 and has a 17" monitor. The conversion process was pretty much the same as above so I won't repeat other than show you a final result. I used copper metallic paint for the edging and satin black for the middle. Used speaker cloth for the lower part of the front. I just need to put a decent set of speakers in now and all complete.

Again running E-Touch but the latest versions integrate online searching, streaming so wanted a more secure OS.

WOW ...that looks awesome!! Love the paint job

Thanks mate! I originally had the edges as Black and the interior as red. It looked like arse so had a look around and went with this. Pretty happy with the result.

I just went to the ELO site from memory and grabbed the appropriate driver:

http://support.elotouch.com/download/Drivers/DriverDownload/

As for other software, depends on what you're after?

Jukebox Software is: http://www.freeboxjukebox.com/

SimpletouchFE homepage appears down at the moment. Use this link: http://www.arcadepunks.com/simpletouch-fe-skins-user-made-skins/

A lot of "interesting" stuff can be found here and sub-links: http://www.arcadepunks.com/download-pc-touchscreen-apps/

I'm not sure what you're googling but there's a shit tonne out there. :unsure

As my kiosk was in the same batch I figured I'd post a couple of pics in this thread rather than start a new one. Obviously Brad (and nearly everyone else) gets things done a lot quicker than me [emoji16]

Painted mine with a black body, metallic red trim and metallic charcoal facade. Only just installed e-touch so I'll see how it goes.

Hi guys, great work all of you on the conversions. Ive been chasing an old poke machine to do the same but have had no luck finding a suitable candidate....after seeing these photo kiosks im now thinking this maybe the way to go. Been having a look around but cant find any except for one around the $900.00 . seems a bit excessive to me........Are there any kiosks out there for sale at a reasonable price?

Cheers

In advance

Steve
