Arcade / Games Room in progress... Finally !!

Recommended Posts

that is one insane collection mate, how did you go about getting the shipping container sent over, was it all organised in the states and delivered to your door through one company that supplies arcades?

cheers.

Yeah they pretty much deal in anything that's old....

Arcades, Pinballs, Jukeboxes, Fuel Pumps, Signs, ect.....

I have another that's just hit the water & another currently being filled

It's a lot of work to organize everything and a lot can go wrong at the same time.

  • 2 years later...

Well its been over 2 years since I built this garage / Arcade, but all I've managed to do since is make a big mess :lol

I really never thought I'd end up with so many machines, I only had about 20 in mind when I planned to build, but I have well over triple that !

Yep frigging madness !!

I have so much work to do out there, that most days I lift the door, scratch my head, then shut the door again... :unsure

The only real progress to the garage was when I got sparky out to power it, but I need him to install proper lights and power outlets.

Here's some pics of some of the mess:

20190221_160746.thumb.jpg.da15a8ed967162976de8739f35995510.jpg20190221_160754.thumb.jpg.083cee62bf46cebf0150c41bee5c7bdb.jpg20190221_160835.thumb.jpg.e18e1bba9630b277ce6eed7bf8f378ba.jpg20190221_160855.thumb.jpg.922e0e3aa3a4920525347f345d4f532b.jpg

The biggest problem is it now houses a 8x5 Trailer and a Cortina Wagon I purchased a few months back.

Currently looking to build another garage for those as that will free up a lot of space, they take up nearly half the garage.

Anyway, the madness continues...

I've just filled another container load of machines, just been loaded and on the way for me and some others I allowed in:

So new games to hit the garage will be:

Twin Daytona USA

Star Wars: Pod Racer

GYRUSS

Baby Pac-Man pinball & Arcade in one

Robocop Pinball

The rest I bought were machines I already have and were really just to fill the container up.

So ill have a fair few up for sale at some point.

Machines that will be available to buy will be:

2x Donkey Kong

2x Galaga

GYRUSS

Ms Pac-Man

Midway: Space Invaders

Some that I already have available hear are:

Midway: Space Invaders Deluxe

TRON

Hang On

Zaxxon

Pole Position

Demo Man Pinball

Lethal Weapon 3 Pinball

there's more, but that's all I can remember right now.

As you can see this hobby is a massive addiction ! :rolleyes

Nice..

Best collection of good picking from USA I’ve seen in years.

Top line up and rewards yourself with a pat on the back.

Thank you for letting me part of filling the container and bringing my picking of dedicated cabinets back to Oz to add to my collection.

Where are you shipping the game from?

USA

Is it about availability? Price? Or both?

Definitely both and there's more variables as well...

I bought most of my machines about 4 to 5 years ago, there seemed to be a lot more available back then.

Prices have been driven up now, as more and more collectors have come on to the scene, all around the world.

The Europeans have hit the USA machines hard, due the exchange rate, it makes it cheap for them, where its the opposite for us Aussies :cry

Back when the AUD was equal or better then the USD was the time to buy!

Not only were the machines dirt cheap, the exchange rate was the icing on the cake...

Back then you could pick Nintendo cabs up for $150 fully working and in very good original condition.

Sadly those days are long gone.....

Galaga

Just got this Galaga up and running and its playing really nice!

I rebuilt the monitor chassis and it had board issues that were easy enough for me to fix.

This one is a very early build, its a plywood version (later builds were MDF), over all its in very good shape, so I'm going to leave it the way it is, in original condition.

I may put this one up for sale here, at the moment I'm in 2 minds whether to keep it or not :unsure

Its SOLD!

Never done it before to be honest, whats involved ?

I wish they were all like the Centuri cabs, as they're so easy !

Have a look at the main transformer, does it have a 240V tab?

It's not just a matter of moving one wire to this tab, there's more involved, but you will need to establish this first.

Its all packed away against the wall now, might a look next time its out.

From memory, one trans can be converted (if its the correct one), which still leaves one that cannot be converted ?

You have 2 transformers, one for the power supply and the other is a 120V isolation transformer for the monitor.

What you do is convert the main transformer to 240V. You also use this transformer as an auto transformer to run to the monitor isolation transformer by tapping the 120V tab.

I'll do you a diagram if you wish to do this?
