MGL 28 - Scoreboard

Recommended Posts

After 7 games have been completed, we have a thriller in all positions ...

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/MGL28SBafter7_zpsq6paadwu.png

An important announcement ... at the end of this MGL, it is quite likely there will be several players on equal overall scores. This is due to the incremental system being used and with 45 competitors to date (under the percentage system it is extremely rare to have any ties due to the additional decimal points). The MGL is restricted to be a 66 day tournament and there will be no extra time or games played. Conspired ties will not be possible either. The method to finalise rankings that are tied will be to use the head to head system. So if 2 or more players tie on overall score, the higher rank will be determined by the player with the better head to head record against the other players. As there are 9 games in the MGL, it is unlikely there will be a tie in the head to head count (yet it is possible, eg they tied in 1 game and have 4 head to heads each). If this is equal, then the player with the highest combined game scores over the 9 games as a total will achieve the higher rank. Yes it's technical, but that's gaming!

2 games to go ... the outcome is in your hands ... play the best you can ... http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/Pacman_Machine_zpsb3b61f58.gif

After 8 games have been completed, it's now down to the last game ...

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/MGL28SBafter8_zpseyjgwtjd.png

There are many pockets of close scores within the scoreboard ...

outrun86 and creech contest a potential better placing ... and who's going to take it? ...

Foot and bigredbird contest for the better of the two ... that's a higher place to the winner and bragging rights over the other ... and DKong is within striking distance ...

The battle for a podium finish in 3rd place seems to rest between Snjspiteri, smkrogman, RMacauley and Rat ...

CWK and magrinder will battle it out for the title, where other players submitting higher scores can affect the outcome for all placings ...

We also have 4 people on tied scores ...

Bishop and Fire_Power are both tied on 739 points ... however due to the 5 to 4 head count, Bishop takes 12th place and Fire_Power is now in 13 place ...

RMacauley and smkrogman are both tied on 830 points ... however due to the 4 to 5 head count, smkrogman takes 4th place and RMacauley is now in 5th place ...

1 game to go ... enjoy!

After 66 days of very challenging arcade gaming, MGL28 has now come to a close.

The final standings are below:

CONGRATULATIONS to the Top 20 in MGL28 … where we had 45 competitors shoot, drive, punch, rope, take the lift, jump, pepper, fly and swim their way through a minefield of 9 tough games.

Some of the banter on the forum was the funniest and most creative I have ever seen … and there were many great game tips … I hope you all enjoyed the good spirit in the gaming community!

We have had an amazing tie for 1st place … CWK and magrinder have both played terrific and finished with 855 points. However the head to head count is 5 to 4 in CWK’s favour … so …

Congratulations to CWK on his 1st MGL win … he won 2 games, won the title by a whisker on the last day, and a major highlight was his Q*bert score of over 3 million points!

magrinder, the world champion on Popeye, played brilliantly for a tied score (it does not get any closer than that!). It came down to the last day and he just missed out on a count back.

smkrogman, also playing in his 1st MGL, took out Galaga and played terrific for 3rd place.

Snjspiteri … what can I say? … he played brilliantly and achieved an almighty 4th place … missing out on 3rd place by only one measly point! Well done!

Rat played excellent throughout the tournament and took the lead after 3 games … and finished with a great 5th place.

RMacauley shows everyone how to make a burger … and comes in at a very schmick 6th place.

DKong played very well at the beginning and was in the Top 2, then got a new job, and came in strong at the end with 7th place, only 2 points behind RMacauley.

Foot comes back to play all games for the first time since MGL23 … and rewards himself with a very good 8th place.

bigredbird kept at these games with great determination … still making burgers and approaching 1 million on BurgerTime after the game closed … with 9th place.

outrun86 played well for 10th place to match his 10th place in MGL21.

creech kept trying to improve his scores and just missed out on the Top 10, and made a good 11th place.

There was another tie between Bishop and John73 both on 740 points … however Bishop had a 5 to 4 head count and takes 14th place and John73 a very nice 15th place.

Though Fire_Power wins the score tie duel with Bishop from 2 days ago, to take 13th place … :023:

A mystery was SoltyD, who led after 4 games and then did not post any more scores … maybe next time …

With 9 games contested there were 8 different game winners … that’s a very nice spread …

smkrogman, John73, magrinder, SoltyD, thejudge, CWK, RMacauley and Sawys.

Congratulations to the game winners too …

Well that was the closest MGL ever … we had 9 games and Lasso was one new game that was a bit of a surprise for everyone …

I hope you all enjoyed the tournament … it was a lot of competitive fun as well as a lot of learning on how to play these games better …

The mystery prize will be drawn in a few minutes …

Congrats to CWK. A job well done. Close one!

As always, thanks to everyone for the general banter, game tips, camaraderie and support. The MGL always has a good natured group of gamers.

Thanks to OOO for a well run tournament. You always have a way of getting everyone involved and engaged.

Thankfully, there were very few shooters! It's never easy to fair well against MGLers when shooters show up in a tournament. I think that is now two tournaments in a row with just a shooter or two.

And lastly, thanks to @bigredbird for being BRB. You really need to lay off the mushrooms though...

Thanks OOO for running another great MGL - you run them so well and with such enthusiasm - thanks. Also such great artwork you put up.

Great selection of games this time around. I normally reckon in MGL there are a couple of duds in my opinion anyway, but not this time all cracker games. Maybe due to the age of them, all from '79 to '83 which to me was the classic age. (Galaga 81, BnJ 82, Popeye 82, Lasso 82, Elev Action 83, Q'bert 82, BTime 82, Lunar R 79, Swimmer 82) Maybe this helped with the larger number of participants and with more than normal playing all games?

Fun banter, tips, recollections and laughs along the way which is a big part of the camaraderie of MGL. Some impressive scores too!

Still thinking about the new scoring system - seems to close things up a bit which is probably a good thing. What do other reckon, there's been little comment on it?

:D :D :D

I don't have too much to add that has not already been bantered about in the past regarding scoring. As always, I'm pleased to run with whatever the majority wish to run with scoring wise.

haha. I was going in an entirely different direction with my original post and added the image (it made sense to the original post) but then changed my mind and deleted most of the original post making the Mr. Do! image pointless, but then forgot to delete the Mr. Do! image. The odd thing is, I tried to edit the Mr. Do! image off after the fact too, but for one reason or another, the forum software won't let me (doesn't show that the image is there when I go to edit).

Phew. That's a long winded too many mushrooms eh? I should stop writing now before I get myself in more trouble...

Congrats to the Winners :041::041::041:

I didn't have the time nor the drive to compete in both this and the IGBY that was going on. I barely made par in that one, anyway

Even playing all of these I would have struggled to make the top 10. Some outrageous scores on some brutal games. Nice work guys!! :applause:

So I caught onto MGL kind of late but enjoyed the games I was able to participate in. I also enjoyed the selections from the 79-83 golden age.

Any idea when MGL 29 will begin?

Glad you enjoyed the games ... as far as MGL29 ... I thought all you guys were hammered ... :021: ... by the great competition and needed a rest ... no?

Are you guys ready for another challenging and most enjoyable tournament? :rolleyes  :lol :024: ... no?

If you are ... then please post your desire here (please I don't mean post your passion for Miranda here) ... no?

Three noes and you delay or cancel the next CAG tournament that enriches your life and invigorates your soul ... :jester: ... quote from Harley Quinn ... yes I am inviting Margot and Miranda over to my place ... for a game of Space Invaders ... what else? ... you guys! ... :018:
