So I finally got to roll some paint on this thing and its starting to look really nice now. I'm happy with the paint at the moment with just one coat of blue so it should look even better when I get a second coat on there tomorrow. The Taubmans River Boat Blue came out so close to the original colour too, the only other recorded matching colour is the Behrs liquid blue so I was happy to find an alternative I could get mixed up here in Aus

Couldn't seem to message you mate so I'll just ask here just wanted to ask how you went about painting the cabinet, what kind of roller did you use, and did you get a nice smooth finish using a roller?

Cheers mate.

sorry mate my inbox is full, im going to try and delete some messages now. so i used one of the grey disposable foam rollers from bunnings for the sides and one of the smaller ones that are about 150mm wide that they sell also for the front. i got a bit of a fine texture through it but its quite smooth for a roller, its really come up similar to how laminate feels. and thats with no sanding between coats, i imagine it would be much smoother with sanding between coats. and for the black i just masked up and used a satin black spray paint, i used the dulux one but i have since tried rustoleum on another project and i like that paint better. hope this helps.

sorry about my pictures. i need to go through and update them as my photobucket is no longer. thanks

Cheers for that, I pretty sure I will go down the same path, don't think my cheapo spray gun with my awesome skills will give me a nice result, but a roller I can use :) I should hopefully get a start on my cab in the next few weeks
