Mini Restoration of Indiana Jones (WMS)

Recommended Posts

I've really got to stop looking at this. I want another one now. Shame about the blemishes in the brass but great that you could get the lockdown right. That's what is seen the most and the side rails will be up against another so most won't notice. If you are like me when I was finished I could see any faults but most thought it was perfect. We are our own worst enimies.

Great job Saber. Really looks fantastic. Now get the white gloves on so you can play it.

Michael Jackson :rolleyes

Polish results looks fantastic. Are you hand polishing with that product or still finishing off on a buffing wheel! Nice work.

It was just hand polished with the wading cloth. It was actually not a lot of work. Only had to go over it a few times and it just sparkled.

I just hope I got all the wading polish off before the lacquer coating when on. I guess we will know in a couple of days... LOL

That is a 1st class job @saber007 . It looks great. Now you have had plenty of practice and know what to do you feel free to come give my Indy the once over!!!

Thx....

Was not as bad as I thought it would be. Just time consuming but loads of fun, will be sad when it is finished. Won't have any to tinker with...

Happy to offer any advise if you need. PM me

@joker poker With 2 kids it is a nightmare keeping the machines clean. But they are there to be played. The family loves them I could never own a machine I was to afraid to play. With 4 machine now I think a mini tournament is in order to christen the IJ

Question..... Does anyone know what glue is used to sick together the lockdown bar bits. The brassing process must have make the glue brittle and it just broke away this morning... Thx

All but finished. Just need to powder coat the apron and apply the decals but for the main part it is done. :)

4 coats of wax and the playfield turned out really well and the LED's just make it so bright.

I was worried the rope bridge area would not be bright enough but it really is.

Here are some final pics.

Was a lot of fun. Almost need another pin to work on now.

Mini Restoration of Indiana Jones (WMS)

So my analness got the better of me on Sunday and I removed the side rails off the IJ to Strip, Polish and re-lacquer them. I just wan't happy with how they turned out originally.

On a sad note my 2 yo Son decided that he like the taste of lacquer and while I was playing a game on the weekend he took to gnawing on the lockdown bar and chewed right though the lacquer. He thought it was hilarious...... Oh well I am gonna be an expert at applying lacquer..... I am stating to think maybe I should have powder coated... Lol

Thanks @jono for the advice on your T2 thread on applying the apron decals.

Got the apron back form the powder coaters this week and stuck the decals on.

Was so simple using a spay bottle and a little bit of detergent. Gives you time to move them around so they are in the perfect spot.

Just need to print off some cards. Then plan to paint the lockdown assembly and decal it. Thx to Tony @Pinball Shed for that great idea. He did it to my T2 and looks like new. Amazing what a lick of paint does.

Will have to start my T2 restore soon to fulfil my addiction to tinker..

Awesome job!! Makes me a little jealous about mine - unfortunately it's in bits shoved in the corner of the garage waiting patiently. It kept blowing a flipper fuse, so I decided to go a full restore that was halted during a house move :(

Question though for all... Were the legs and playfield guides always been gold on IJ's? I think mine was one of the pre release versions without the red mini pf edges...

testing memory here but bog standard IJ from the factory had chrome legs, normal #4 stainless rails, chromed ball guides. There were no "gold" edition releases from Williams on this game. Bit of a shame really - great game - would have one back again tomorrow.

By admitting defeat do I only owe you one beer at Pinfest:D

Great looking IJ, I am looking to restore one I recently acquired, not sure I will quite get to your standard though.

Are you able to tell me what size rubber you used here, it is missing from the manual, and most of the online info I can find looks to use 2 3/16" rubbers rather than 1 like you have, the other ones I have see with a single rubber don't look as neat, I think just too big.

Thanks,
