Kick Harness Woes - Wiring with JAMMA / CPS-2 / J-Pac

Recommended Posts

Experts,

Is this possible?

I will be wiring my pushbuttons to the JAMMA harness through the Astro City molex connectors. As you know they give 1P 5 buttons.

Next comes playing my CPS-2 games which need 6 buttons. I will wire buttons 4,5,6 to to a 10-pin molex connector in the cabinet.

Now to do this I now have 3 wires coming of the kick buttons:

#1 - JAMMA

#2 - Kick Harness (I will wire 2 kick harnesses. One for CPS-2, other for J-Pac)

#4 - Ground

Hopefully you know what I'm talking about and now for the questions :)

- The simple question, do I need to do anything extra to this configuration?

- By pressing the kick buttons will the signal go through to both the JAMMA board and kick harness?

- Do I need to worry about any conflict in doing so?

- Do I need to add a diode to any of these wires?

Thanks!

I answered some of my own questions by experimenting with my CPS-2 board in my cabinet.

I didn't use a ground in the kick harness. I had 2 wires connected to the pushbutton. One wire to the kick harness and one to the JAMMA board.

The CPS-2 board uses buttons 4,5,6 via the kick harness so their was no conflict.

There didn't appear to be conflict.

Next test I'll see what happens when I use the J-Pac.
