14" cocktail cabinet - generic cab

Recommended Posts

Finally got around to this one. Previously mamed, now converting to a 60-in-1. Nothing special and nothing dedicated for now.

Got a deadline to have it working by my wife's 30th party, this Saturday, so exactly 6 days at this point.

Work done:

Striped out partial mame wiring harness and 110v and 240v parts. (Step down transformer refused to cooperate and come out, so still physically there, just not connected.

Re-wiring began. Run new 240v, kept existing fuse folder and switch underneath, added new noise filter and 3-pin breakout/distributor. Replaced jammed fan with new 240v fan. Replaced worn old speaker with a pair of them from an old TV that was Jomac'd, look to be a decent quality pair, one for each player side.

Fitted psu and 60-in-1 board, and began wiring jamma harness. Power, speakers and all player 1 controls now wired. Player 2 cabling is run into place, but not hooked up yet, as I've still got to strip solder off the b1 and b2 connector tabs.

Powered it up and can play it blind, so happy with that.

Fitted new glass clips (previously only had 2 clips)

Todo:

Finish stripping solder and wire up p2

Connect coin mech and counter

Install and wire up service/test switches

Source and fit slides that limit the extent of the lid opening -- can these be bought at Bunnings or something?

Source and install coin box -- not a priority, but needs to be done

Replace lock barrels with ones I have keys for

Install CRT and chassis, wire up

Longer term goals:

Clean/polish legs

Repair surface scratches on glass

Strip and repaint underside of the glass -- maybe fit some artwork at the same time

ok, some extra photos.

Outside, showing the new black glass clips, the CRT & Chassis awaiting installation (and yes, that's a VGA monitor de-cased, will run direct off the VGA output from the 60-in-1 board. Will have to change this out to a proper arcade one at a later date if I want to change the PCB out). Later photo of the internals showing the speakers fitted and P1 wiring in place.

Control panel clearly shows this as a bit of a 'knock off' cabinet, but is in good condition so can stay for now.

Anyone able to identify the type of cabinet this is? I need a coin-box to suit it, and don't even know what I'm looking for :)

Is that a front plate, or the required "tunnel" that it gies it? I measured the tunnel, if that, the nuts too high, mines 18, ,ah e 17cm high. I could imaging the front "plate" is higher tho, so 205 could be right..

Ok, some more progress!

Player 2 wired, coin wired (needs new switch, but wired up), 240v for chassis wired and installed, monitor installed, ghetto new mounting brackets fashioned and installed, all secured, tested and running! Pretty stoked :)

Great work, what sort of CRT is it, as the old 13" pc crt monitors I have are too deep for my cocktails.

It's a dell 15" CRT decased. It's a tight fit, but just makes it.

Going to have to fashion so,e brackets for the chassis, as right now it's just hanging on it's cords :)
