okay had a good day today with the cockpit. I went and picked up the completed sideart on my restored panels. The finish on these bad boys is frickin' amazing. They used a UV protective laminate over the top to preserve the artwork and make it a bit scratch resistant. They reckon it would last a good 5 years in the sun before you started noticing any fading so I'm well pleased.

The colour and sharpness of the art is fantastic I'll put my old art up against it to compare but it totally works. The art is high gloss so it pings a bit more than the older stuff and is making me consider changing the gloss level of the rest of the cabinet to match. Not sure yet it's just something I'm thinking about.

Overall the artwork sits really well on the old panels. There does appear to be a slight mismatch in the panel and the art and they've done the best job they can with what they had. If you look at back of the bigger panels you'll see it's bit close to the edge.

To my eye the art is about 7mm to far back from the front edge but to be honest I can't tell how much the panels have swelled and moved over the years so I have no idea if this panel is anything like a factory fresh one. It never occurred to me that wood would swell outwards in all directions until I put the two panels together and saw how different they were.

But that aside I'm very happy with the work and price. For a restore of some pretty buggered panels I reckon they've come up not too bad. So I will finally be able to reattach them to the trolley and it might even start looking like an arcade game soon!

If anyone has any recommendations for a good glue for reassembly please let me know

Cheers Dezbaz! It's been a bit of a haul getting to this stage but I reckon things should go easier for the next wee bit before I get to the running gear. I kind of forgot I had them when I got up this morning so got another buzz when I saw them

oh well stay tuned for more pics when I finally put this together!

Cool thanks mate - I have my digitally printed side art already but one decal is slightly off and at some point I'd like to redo that part. Also the 'hoop' decals are a little fuzzy so not sure if your artwork is better in that area?

Do you have the files or just the printed artwork?

The TOG thing is a joke. 5 years and counting.. If some of the info I've been PM'd is even close to being true, then we'll never see the artwork.

yeah I've got the files courtesy of Dezbaz. They are photoshop files maybe you have the same ones? I've got the hoop art it looked fine to me but let me double check.

sorry to hear about ToG such a bummer to be so close and yet so far from the original screen printed art.
