Recommended Posts

I am at the present dee jaying three nights at Live niteclub in the casino in Melbourne.I dee jay in between the live bands. They have three bands on every Saturaday. The theme of the night is rock music. The few bands i have seen are the Zep boys,Choirboys,Borne and Pseudo echo.I have met quite a few of the band members. But one that really made an impression on me was one of the ex member of the group Real Life.I didnt know that he was in the venue.Early in the night i had played one of his songs. The song was Send me an angel.I was talking to him later in the night in the back stage section of the club.He was really nice and signed my record.

The question that i ask what is your favorite oz rock song or artists.

MIDNIGHT OIL

gather round children and I shal tell a tale of a young man named Dave

well it started off as planing a trip with the then girlfrient to a nice surf spot on the victorian coast called Port Campbell near Warnabool well we live about a 6 hour drive from said camp spot and back in those days we didnt have any of these fancy mp3 player thingies in our cars but Ol dave he had a neat little thing called a Pioneer 10 stack cd unit under his seat and low and behold every cd in that unit was a work of musical genuis by none other then Midnight oil yes there was 10-1,species deceasies, red sails, blueskmine,Midnight oil(self titled),Armistice day,Bird noises(wedding cake island ended up being our wedding song:050: )Place without a postcard,Headinjuries, diesel and dust

I was told I am so lucky she didnt leave me after that weekend but i do and alway will love my OILS

Twas 1985 in the days before mp3 players and even 10 stack cd players, myself and another young and adventurous scallywag set off for school but decided that we shall miss said schooling in favour of travelling to the Rockhampton music bowl to see Midnight Oil. Ahhh those were the days... I agree with Dave the oils are a classic Aussie band and danceable from a DJ point of view. Sadly I don't own any oils on Cd and my tapes and 33s are long gone.
