My 2 player bar cade

Recommended Posts

So I decided to make a new 2 player barcade cabinet, just two 8 way controllers and 6 buttons each...

- Asus P8H77-I Mini ITX

- Thermaltake 220W PSU out of an Mini-ITX Case

- Intel Core i3-3225 (HD4000 graphics)

- 2 x 4GB Kingston DDR3

- 12 volt purple LED bar

- Ipac 2 FS32

- 19" Dell 5:4 monitor

- Sandisk Extreme 128

More than enough power for MAME, and then some, running latest 64bit build and set up Hyperspin for front-end...

First I have to give ArcadeWorx credit for the wood cutting, I was a little skeptical of the price at first but once I got it I understand why.. Very well done and the laminate isn't some cheap white melamine it is more like (or is infact) a thick white kitchen cabinet laminate.. He also customized the button holes for me slightly and the ARCADE cutout style up the top for no extra cost..

The tiny ITX motherboard is mounted on PCB mounts from ozstick, so it is secure, raised off the bottom and easy to remove.. The PSU is just a little 220W one as not much to power anyway and it is stuck in place with tarzan grip double sided tape LOL

I put the SSD in as I had it spare from upgrading laptop and helps windows boot time, not much use for MAME though really..

I mounted a cheap purple LED strip from ebay under the Arcade cutout up the top, it is just wired into a 12v supply from the PSU.. Wires are just pushed in the plug for the photo, I have since wired with a proper molex plug ;-)

I drilled a whole on top for the back-lit power button which i wired up to the power light and power button on the motherboard, works fine..

Only thing left to do is find some bearable USB powered speakers to mount inside somewhere..

My 4 year old loves it, even without sound...
