You may need a large heatsink too. An option is available

A suitable heatsink replacement is available at Jaycar HERE

You can fit a fan to this new type of heatsink if you want (Optional)

http://www.dsbelec.iinet.net.au/Fan-01-sm.jpg

A 12V Fan can be powered from the board itself using a 7812 Regulator and small heatsink (Optional extra)

Today I drilled out the 4 base plates for the Amplifone Heatsinks Gibo had made for me (Cheers mate)

These are for use with the Jaycar heatsink like Gibo and I have done

Aussies who buy the PCB will get priority. $35.00 plus shipping for each plate (You buy the Jaycar part locally of course)

I will be putting them on my website in a few days opening them up to other countries

Jaycar heatsink is here

NOTE It's a good idea to use heat paste when fixing the 2 x metal parts together :D

Those who expressed interest in the old thread are below, let me know if you still want anything

Gibo 2 (Already sorted)

daveb PAID x 1

Hoopstar 1 OR 2

Thank you

  • 1 month later...
  • 2 weeks later...

All arvo I have been assembling the Deflection board. Every part is new this time - for the first time

Home made heatsink

Big Transistors

Connectors

Some Big Parts

Lots of resistors

End result so far . . . .

http://www.dsbelec.iinet.net.au/First_New_Amp_Defl-02-sm.jpg

**** Notes people: ******

No insulators under the screws of the Large T03 Transistors, as they need to conduct through to the board

I used a meter to ensure no transistor was touching the Heatsink. The 2 inner resistors can touch the heatsink, as they are internally insulated. Hense: No insulator is needed at all - screws or mounting.

More updates Tomorrow I would think

I assembled one fully from scratch, plugged it in, turned it on (Double checked for solder bridges, and bits of wire etc)

The result - ALL Good!

This screen is not converged - I rushed it together for the prototype testing

I spent yesterday with Dez assembling my 2 deflection boards, the through hole design makes it very is to solder in the new parts and all is clearly marked on the board. As you can see in the pics I went for the Jaycar heatsink attached to a 5mm ali plate, one problem i did have was trying to isolate the mounting screws from the heatsink for the TO-3 packages but overcame that by drilling out the holes in the heatsink to 1/4 and using some 1/4od plastic airline cut to 5mm lengths and inserting them in the enlarged hole, problem solved.

All Tested and working

Good job Dez
