Donkey Kong II Cabinet Build - Dez - Arcade worx

Recommended Posts

Looks AWESOME Dez..!!

What did you use for the base/sealer coat on the MDF?

Proper MDF Primer. 2 part mix.

Early days, prior to the booth idea coming up, I asked if I could buy the primer, and it was almost $200.00 for the 2 x 4 litre tubs

This cab used 2.5 L of primer, 2L of Black gloss and Less than 2L of blue. I have the leftover blue for repairs, but it needs hardener to go off. So sadly it's pretty impractical for most to consider. (Over $500 worth of paint alone)

The company who my son in law works for, paints the MDF Kitchen doors for companies over here. You can see why they got the contract. But them doors are pretty pricey.

I would like to do a cab with a spray gun, in acrylic, at home, just to compare results.

Some of spacies cabs (Mal) come up like this

4 years since last post :D

I have finally managed to pick up a vertical monitor frame from a guy in the US. I found one 2 years ago, but the guy didn't want to disassemble that one, so the freight was US$200.00

This one arrived today. It was US$50 freight, and $50 for the frame. It's to suit my WGK4900 Chassis & Yoke I bought from Quarter Arcade in the states

I had the screen, it was the one I found on the way home that day.

These things take time . . . .

Can't wait to see this build continue mate, you have done a great job so far, I'm just about to get ready for my own dk build.

How does the yoke and chassis work, can you just buy them and put them on any tube? Is this instead of a Jomac setup?

You can use a universal chassis from Jomac, fitted to a TV tube.

I went a more original way. Either will work

You do need a RGB inverter board if using an original DK board.

I have a DK / JAMMA converter with the RGB inverter like this

https://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=NIN2JAMMA

That's as far as I have gone so far, have the inverter from mikes and was looking to go the universal chassis and then I saw this thread with another method :)

Do you have to buy the right yoke and chasis for your type of tube?

Yes, the yoke came from Quarter Arcade from the same screen
