F14 Tomcat Restoration

Recommended Posts

Cool, also I am thinking about adding the missing flashers around the top loop, the prototypes models had an extra 2 there but were removed due to them shorting on the backs of targets, there is a youtube clip on

how to install them.

Plan is to get this to outshine AC/DC :D

I have reinstalled those two flashers on mine it's not to hard alot of wiring though. I looked up the original colour of the wiring and wired up accordingly. I also used heat shrink around the two bulb holders and at the back of the two targets so hopefully shouldn't have any shorting out problems. That YouTube video is very helpful made the job easy.

F14 Tomcat Restoration

Ok bit of a write up of what i've done and waiting for.

All of the coils are brand new not new wraps.

Blue Xpin display. All Flashlamp boards have new resistors.

I have used super brights leds for the playfield and frosted leds in the back box using red and blue in coresponding areas.

Flippers are all rebuilt, slingshots new crank arms and plungers, pop bumper has new rod and ring assembly skirt ect, most switches have been replaced apart from a few i could'nt get but they are all fine.

Cabinet has new flipper switches, mirror blades, Pinball pro speaker kit. All the boards in the backbox are original was only the driver board that needed a few transistors replaced.

Next weekend will be the powerup so see how we go.

Im still waiting for my apron to come back from having a gloss black finish applied bout a week away i have new apron decals for that. New glass and lockbar will conplete the job.

Ok i have now got the last few pieces back from the metal finishers.

I have had my apron refinished in a gloss black oxide looks great. Have also chromed the coin box cover and had my new lockdown bar polished to a mirror finish.

So i applied my new apron decal not a real easy job.

After getting the apron reinstalled on the playfield i decided it was time to boot this baby up.

The boot up was all good with only a few switches in the ball troff area not working which only turned out to be a dodgy plug on the driver board.

Also had a problems with a few flashers staying lit up in the radar insert which turned out to be a bad transistor in the driver board.

Anyway hope you enjoy the photos of the finished product as much as i do....DSC_0358.thumb.jpg.fdef4550106602f9c96714ebd992d3ee.jpgDSC_0359.thumb.jpg.eff02307dee79d13711ae59a8db1cb06.jpgDSC_0362.thumb.jpg.9353324fa0a505d4fe7c95aa054feef6.jpgDSC_0363.thumb.jpg.c1a45eabf713d8c3c91e1bdc2fbfc392.jpgDSC_0364.thumb.jpg.35f25428d9a8c16fba75941534f7f100.jpgDSC_0365.thumb.jpg.a42b11a8614a12f3bf05125529bd9a61.jpgDSC_0366.thumb.jpg.55572def6e9864650dfe92ca768f8c99.jpgDSC_0367.thumb.jpg.ff8bf6e3c35ff6ec85f857700735cc00.jpgDSC_0368.thumb.jpg.8e88ba0909c0e4715918a15a2f06e894.jpgDSC_0371.thumb.jpg.ec2051fa2d7989ae2d73eebc502aa898.jpgDSC_0372.thumb.jpg.3b8c9d13cfa17e7d94dba3f351df8744.jpgDSC_0373.thumb.jpg.3b2bae247d6e9c0a96c6bf1bd366dc93.jpgDSC_0374.thumb.jpg.6eafcb772c2659bc9123938716684fd5.jpgDSC_0375.thumb.jpg.90e5b325da52675d772842c6cc7dd40d.jpg
