Cinemaware Wings MMO??

Recommended Posts

Was just thinking about an idea for a future version/sequel to Wings (once the Directors Cut has proven to be highly profitable of course )

Wings - as a Massive Multi Player Online. Based on the exact Wings format that we know, a journey through WW1 through a series of missions based on bombing, strafing and dogfighting aerial combat. Except you fight along side your real life friends, and against real life foes, by meeting them online. You would need to choose a side in the war, and you would need to hit certain objectives to advance to the next mission. If you die, you would have to recreate a new character and fly the mission again until you complete it successfully. The more kills you get, the greater a pilot you are, making you more accurate in shooting etc.

If you had weak statistics and found it hard to pass a mission, you would need to choose your wingmen wisely.

Not sure exactly how the strafing or bombing could be incorporated into a MMO?? Maybe these could be used as solo missions to build up your stats, along with balloon busting missions.

Anyway, just thought I'd start a topic on this to see if any one thinks it's a good idea for a future title from Cinemaware? Would a WW1 flight simulator MMO work in today's market?

The only way i could see Wings suited to a MMO is to strip the game back to the First Person sim sections and create a dogfighting MMO set in WW1. Choose a side, fly sorties etc. Sort of like Capture the flag and counterstrike style challenges but in biplanes, triplanes etc.
