Earning Money from Youtube

Recommended Posts

A while back I mentioned that I was thinking of monetizing my youtube channel which I later did. I know a few members (Tim etc) are starting there own youtube channels so I thought Id post my experience to date.

Basically After Jan I started to monetize my youtube vid's one by one, you need to setup an account with adsense initially and you do have some control on what ad types get put on your vid's. To date I have not any complaints about the ads from any users or drop of in veiwers which was one of my concerns initially.

Anyway here are the stat's for the vid's I monetised, it should give you a good idea of what to expect to earn from any vid's you may want to monetize. I'm posting this because I found it almost impossible to find this type of stats before I monetised my vid's , so I'm posting it to help hose thinking about doing the same.

Page Views: 71,149

Clicks: 2534

Page CTR: 3.56%

CPC: $.07

Page RPM: 2.66

Earnings: $153.29

All but 2 of the vid's are monetised. From memory the ads pop up as small ad banners at the bottom of the vid's after 30 seconds , some have full blown ads before the vid starts , it depends on what adsense and google think is appropriate. For example I notice the Model house vid gets a home loan ad pop up before the vid starts quite a lot of times.

You get to choose whether you want the streaming ads at the start if you click on the monitization button on every individual video in video manager.

With the streaming videos, the viewer just needs to let the ad complete without clicking skip for you to get paid. This is more likely than clicks on ads during the content.

The streaming vids pay less than the clickable ones. But you'll make more money overall in a month from the streaming ads than the clicks.

Thanks rod71, I'll check it out again, I did at the time but can't remember what I clicked. I think they were set to the same options in the end. I'll have to check on the streaming option and see what I selected there.

Edit: Seems the Cocktail cab and House vid's are the only ones with Streaming ads set to on.

Forgot to mention before but $150 is the minimum you need to earn before Google/adsense will pay out.

Interesting..

Post your links and we can add to the coffers.

Excplaine the abbreviations please..

Page CTR: 3.56% = Click Through Rate. out of every 100 views, 3.56 people will click or watch an ad

CPC: $.07 = Cents Per Click (I think)

Page RPM: 2.66 = From the above stats, it's saying for every 1000 views, you'll make $2.66

No worries. Change them all to streaming and I reckon you'll get your CTR up to around 7%

Not bad stats, but be careful Google are a bit funny about what you are allowed to publish in regards to their stats.

I pull in between $250 - $550 per month from Adsense alone on my website, it's a great way to make spare money and is certainly the easiest of all of those. I don't have a youTube channel but do they allow any other ad companies. If you can get on an impression based advertising scheme that can often be more lucrative. I recently changed over to a new company who does impression based advertising for a 50/50 split and March netted $1200 from them alone + $510 from Google.

Bloody well annoying is what it is. Make $250 for you annoy the shit out of everyone else.

I make a big chunk of my living from providing this type of commercialisation and ad revenue to customers.

Every ad should have a skip feature @ least, What the hell do I need with some flash cologne or deodarant - I am a man  (or troll, trolls smell).

Would be better if google had more boobs - maybe we should start a petition.

Just a quick update, I changed my vids to accept the streaming ads as you recommended rod71, looks like my revenue is up about 30 - 50% since I made the change. Thanks very much for the tip, much appreciated.
