The Console Modchip and Repair Resource Thread

Recommended Posts

Admins and mods, a vote to please sticky this thread.

I'd like a central resource where folks can advertise their ability to perform modchip installs and console repairs, or recommend folks near them who do. People who can do this, or want to recommend someone who can, please post:

1) State/City that the person is in (important - postage two ways sucks)

2) Business/person name

3) Contact details (phone, website, email)

4) Consoles you/they can do (if you know)

5) If it's not you, a nice positive recommendation.

I'd personally rather give my business to a fellow AAer than to a stranger out of the phone book. So let us know!

Brisbane

The aptly named "Brisbane Mod Chips":

http://www.brisbanemodchips.com.au/

Various Wii, XBox and PS2 mods. DS accessories too (R4 and other devices).

I rang them recently about Gamecube mods, and no can do unfortunately. I've had a few mates get XBox mods (including hard disk installs) and Wii mods there, with positive reviews.

I recommend this guy in Adelaide (Prospect) for everything! http://www.xpunked.com

Can do all current consoles. Keeps on top of latest happenings and is a top guy.

~ Announcements~

Temporary disruption in XPunked.com service :(

XPunked.com is basically run by just me (Andrew), and it is only my part time job. I study atUniversity full time, and my

end of year exams are approaching so there will be a temporary reductionin my availabilities. The following changes are temporarily

in place until the beginning of December.

~ I will only be doing 'drop off' services for most consoles...but you get a $10 discount

~ I will not be doing any time consuming repairs (i.e. PS2 repairs)

~ I will not be able to answer my phone, or listen to my voicemail as often.

My preferred method of contact is email.

I will still reply to all voicemail and emails, it may just take a little longer than usual.

I apologize for this temporary reduction in service. XPunked.com will be running at full capacity again in December

I've done many hundreds of mods in my time. Not so many recently, but maybe Christmas will pick up business.

Contact me here or via my website at http://www.meltonmods.com

I can do Xbox, Xbox360, PS2, NeoGeo, Wii, Gamecube. (Some makes/models there may be a delay as I get in parts required.)

Located in Melton, Victoria.

Your website doesn't say anything about Gamecube :/ I may be after a replacement shell case since a GC I'm getting already has a chip in it - but the guy lost the screws for the top (he took the top off so he could run large discs). Do you have the replacement shells that support larger discs?

And if I need to get a GCN chipped later on how much (total cost inc. labour/parts) and what chip do you use?

Thanks

Ha just realised I should probably have PM'ed... aw well. Info for everyone else as well I suppose.

I'm in Adelaide (near marion shopping centre)

I dont like piracy and dont use chips myself anymore so i dont know much about the usage side, but i can definately install chips and perform other mods too.

I'll do first gen wii's for either $50 or $75 depending on if they have pins cut or not.

$50 for not cut, $75 for cut.

first gen is any wii with a DMS, D2A, or D2B drive chip. you can calculate what chip is likely to be in your wii here:

http://wiitracker.nintendo-scene.com/search.php

I dont have a business or anything, I've just been doing them for friends from home, probably done 6 or 7 wiis now including a D2C with a 17 wire D2Pro chip a while ago, rather not do those again, theyll cost you about $130 and i make less money for more work.

I can also do retro console mods, I just did a sega saturn import mod (adjusts region and refresh rate, action replays only do region) for someone for example. prices vary between consoles and also depend on what you want me to do, you have alot of options with some of the old consoles, theres no actual chip involved so i can get a bit more creative.

I've designed an auto switching snes mod (not a chip, just basic components and wiring) which senses what region cart you've put in and adjust the refresh rate accordingly, i can adjust this mod to perform a bunch of functions to cater for any needs you might have. only drawback is that american carts dont fit in an australian snes. if you want to cut the cart slot wider they will work, I can do that for you but dont expect it to be hugely neat, i've not had much luck cutting straight lines in plastic by hand.. i'd do my best though.

the only consoles i cant do are ones which require chips that are no longer available, if you can find a source for them then i can put them in.

I also wont do soft mods, I'm not confident playing with peoples firmware.

Seeing my first Wii's in that don't have the controller chip. They are known as D3's or D2zero's. I now stock DriveKey modchips for these bad boys. $120 installed and lifetime guaranteed.

For the 'older' Wii's, a WiiKey2 is the still the best option even though the DriveKey will work on them. The DriveKey only runs the drive at 2x speed so there may be some small stutter problems. $100 installed.

Really old Wii's can have a WiiKey compatible installed for only $50. Doesn't matter if they have cut pins or not...

Still doing 360's, PS2's, Xbox 1's, and anything else.

Hey guys,

Dug up this old thread as I want to get a Pal SNES converted to play a couple of NTSC carts. The Adelaide guy in this thread doesn't seem to be around any more. Who's still in the modding game for SNES machines? I'm willing to post :)

Thanks
