    Dedpin : 46" 46" 2 screen pincab build : an ongoing saga

While I have so many other projects on the go, why not another one.

I have had a temporary setup going for a while now , so it was time to start building the cab.

Heres some of what has been done over the last couple of weeks.

    Knocked together a cab
    Debezelled 2 x 46" LCD screens
    Fit screens into the cab
Measured up for the back box, then assembled one
Tested everything for fit and did some table beta testing
Cut and fit some of the backbox trim, to suit the newer style of BG locking
Enjoyed a few games on the huge BG

    Thats it so far

If you like, you can check out the complete build process here http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=14823&st=0

    UPDATE
(full build copied over from VPF)

I finally made a start on the cab build.

I already had the computer built and everything set up and working for months now.
Time to put it in a cab.

    i7 3.06 ghz
    x58A UD 3R mother board
    2 x GTS250 (16x/16x)
    4gb Ram
    700w PSU
    500 gb hdd

All thrown together in a half case

    .................................................. .....................
the initial testing on a 42" Sharp Aquos looked amazing

    .................................................. .....................
Scored some ply from the last job I worked at and it just happened to be the right lengths.
I measured up Judge Dredd and cut the sides and measured the screen for the width.

Still debating whether to rout slots in the sides to house the screen, but for now I left it wider and installed
temporary guides to sit the 46 on to gauge the height and position.

    .................................................. ..........................................
Got the screen heights measured up. Works out that the backbox height will be near identical to Guns N Roses

Did some rough measuring and there should be enough height to have a drawer tray out the back, under the vertical screen.
Also a full sized backbox glass with lift channel and painted surround to hide the bezel.

With a little bit of modifying, the lockdown bar locking mechanism can be made to fit so that the bar covers the whole bezel. Huge side edge bezel of 35mm.

    .................................................. ..........................................
Decided to go with the old school look. Tried the back box from Gottlieb Spirit of 76, few mods and it will be fine. I will be making it from scratch, that head box has a home.

    .................................................. .........................................
Started some wiring from stuff I have laying around.

I'm using a line filter IEC socket that I had in a driving game power supply hack as my 240v feed. Wired it to go to the 1st power socket for the computer to plug into. Also using a 240v plug to 2 x IEC plug splitter cable for the 2 LCDs.
Made up some power switching units using relay and din rail components as well.

    .................................................. ............................................
I found this cool motorized USB hub. Don't know if I will put in in the front or underneath at the side. Either way, it will make life easier.

Looks cool, I don't think I've seen anyone use a screen that big for a back glass

The software allows you to adjust the backglass picture to suit the size of the monitor

LOL. Actually it's not that bad and once you've set it up it's all done.

Heres a well written tutorial on how to set it all up.
