I advise against going that route unless you absolutely have to. Why do you need to replace the tube and chassis? Can the chassis not be repaired?

You'd want S-Video on the TV at an absolute minimum in my opinion, and even that wouldn't look great.

31khz downscaled to 15khz never looks good.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. I acquired an empty ridge racer delux sit down cab that has been gutted. I've bought a pcb and rewired the cab but cannot locate a 33 inch tube and chassis. I'm itching to get the bessy up and running so I'm looking for a temp fix. I've seen a few different convertor boards available, rgb-VGA, rgb-video. Rgb-VGA/svideo/component etc

Ive just tried those ones Dez I scored them for $15 http://www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php/38890-Cheapie-VGA-to-s-video-AV-converter-possible-Reveiw?highlight=

Not too bad, but only really good if you are using a computer, a standard wired cab with a original board will need a joey chassis with the 33" tube, these are only VGA in to s/video and A/V output
