Haunted House Rides Again !

Recommended Posts

Well I finally got my shit together to get this baby sorted out

it has been a long time coming but happy to say all is well.

i purchased this one a few years ago on epay for 5k from Tom Kennedy in WA.

Turned up to be a nice original Aussie Delivered Unit :rolleyes

I was very happy, until it packed up after a couple of months <_<

However I didnt give a shit as I had a bunch of DMD's to play with :)

This system 80 sat on the backburner for a while as it seemed all too hard :realmad:

I knew problem was on control board but I was very unfamiliar with SYS 80

so I sent PCB to be repaired and it was returned apparantly fixed ,

$250 or so later it was still no good, the dude that fixed it blamed it on the game causing repeat failure. as in dodgy switch or coil f#@king the riot chip U4 on the switch matrix.

anyway I checked and rechecked all wiring, it was ok

so I got the shits and let the HH sit for another year of so.

About 6 months ago I said enough is enough :x

and though fk it i'll get the pascall all in one.

and be done with it.

well I was pissed off because it was so expensive.

So Time to learn about the system 80

so I source some Roit chips Hex i.c and Nand gates

after some stress I found U4 was still faulty and also Z11 Hex Invertor was crook as well. I manged to complicate things but fitting a 2 input NAND in its place. Dohh !

anyway finally got it running nice today :D.

The best thing is I was able to keep this 1982 special totally original !!!

so now its time for this HH to live at a new home.

PM me if your keen for a nice example

This HH is located near Cooroy QLD

I will consider genuine offers over 4.5k

do not bother offering anything less :boring:

BTW Tom assured me the backglass on this unit was used for the CPR repro's

Believe it or not :p

Cheers,

Ando

I've seen this pin and it is a very nice Haunted House pinball.

I think it was Tom Kennedy's last Haunted House pin he sold too.

For those that aren't aware, Tom Kennedy was quite a pinball enthusiast and collector, in Western Australia, a few years ago. He had a few of each title of specific Gottlieb System 80 pinball machines, amongst other pinballs. He sold most, if not all his machines, when he decided to pursue a different hobby altogether.

Cheers,

Dan

Thanks Ando...

My repro HH glass came from Tom as well, at least 6-8 years ago now, only mine is on plastic.....perspex ( assuming its perspex )

Have not come across another one on plastic since !

Looks sensational and to date no one has picked it !

Truly is a great repro.

Quality is there with the security of no breakage and lights up like the original ! :D
