      Amplifone Vector Resistances

      Hi

Has anyone got an Amplifone Vector Monitor? IE the one from Starwars, or Major Havoc etc?

It has a round Yoke. (The WG6100 had a square YOKE)

I need the deflection resistances for the Amplifone please.

      Why, you ask.

I have a chance to fit an Amplifone tube to a WG6100 square yoke (I have the sq yoke, the deflection board, the HV Unit all to suit the 6100)

I want to compare restances to see what is involved to fit this gear to an Amplifone Tube.

      Any Vector Gurus out there?

      Deflection board pinout

Here is the complete pinout of the main connector (on the deflection board):

      1. Red input (4.0V full on; 1.0V black level)
      2. Green input (4.0V full on; 1.0V black level)
      3. Blue input (4.0V full on; 1.0 black level)
      4. Red GND (twisted pair with Red input)
      5. Green GND (twisted pair with Green input)
      6. Blue GND (twisted pair with Blue input)
      7. X input (16V Peak-to-Peak; 2.5Kohms)
      8. Y input (12V Peak-to-Peak; 2.5Kohms)
      9. Not Used (Key)
      10. X GND (twisted pair with X input)
      11. Y GND (twisted pair with Y input)
      12. Power GND
      13. 25V RMS
      14. Power GND
      15. 25V RMS

You can't fit an Amplifone tube to a WG6100 chassis as it's the wrong deflection angle and the Amplifone tube is higher res.

I have an Amplifone fitted to my Star Wars. The square yoke is suitable for both the Amplifone and WG6100, provided you're using a 100 degree tube.

If you wish to use a new 20" tube (I'm guessing you got these from the US) you are going to have to use an Amplifone deflection and high voltage PCB.

      Regards,

      Johns-Arcade.

I found out the resistances are 0.9 and 1.3 ohms

I now have found the correct Yoke for my tube, I have the Amplifone HV and Deflection Boards and cap kits, A spare transformer / power supply to suit.

Any idea if an isolation transformer is needed on an amplifone John?

I can't see one on any diagram, just the 50VAC

      Hi Dez,

If you're using an Atari transformer block as the supply, these transformers are an isolated type. Don't forget that the input 50V is centre tapped (50V-0V-50V).

      Johns-Arcade.
