Wanted: Really tiny PC Power supplies (eg picoATX)

Recommended Posts

Well you could try regular small power supplies such as these:

http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/10256-pti-300ar-t

Or you could try a picoPSU:

Or you could track down a 1RU power supply for rackmounted server PCs. This would be quite expensive I'd imagine.

The picoPSU is obviously the smallest, but keep in mind it's a DC-DC converter so you need an addtional adapter/transformer to convert mains power down to 12V. It would also be the least powerful at 120W, but I can't imagine a 48-in-1 drawing that much anyhow.

DM I have a few open frame PSU's that may fit the bill. They even have a HDD connector ready to connect to the 48-in-1. They originally came from external HDD cases (for Mac classics :lol)

Lemme check, I'll grab a piccy with a ruler for ya...

Cheers

Jacob

That picoPSU is what I had in mind Doublemint, thanks. VERY tiny.

It will add expense to require a DC power pack, but its doable.

I may as well just come out and say what I have in mind:

PSU + Jamma harness + 48-in-1 inside my desktop control panels with a power socket and a VGA out on the back. Plug in a LCD, and you're done.

Btw the base plate of the CP would be mesh to allow airflow/ventilation.

Just out of curiosity, how many voltage rails does this 48-in-1 require and what are the voltages for each one?

The 48 in 1 needs gnd, +5v and +12v. Haven't measured the current but bugger all (an amp or less easy).

here it is:

measures: 177mm(wide) x 50mm(deep) x 30mm(high)

I have 3 of them, kept them just because they seemed great for a 48-in-1 setup. You're welcome to 1 if it will do the job (gratis!)

Cheers
