Who is/was Allied Leasure?

Recommended Posts

Do you mean Associated Leisure?

Nope - I think he means Allied Leisure Incorporated of Florida - 1972 until 1979. Produced 16 machines, a lot of them Cocktail Tables including some we have discussed here in the last few days (see my other thread).

Here's their output from IPDB :

And here's the IPDB link to 'Take Five' :

EDIT: Ooops - just read the above posts.... Maybe not??? :b:

cheers

Well spotted Hamish!

The guy that put together that info has a PC/Arcade museum put together in a shed in Smythesdale.

http://computermuseum.bigpondhosting.com/

I stumbled across it as I drove the family down to Warnambool for New Years. I spent a happy hour or so looking at and playing with the exhibits... the kids played some of the arcades, and even the wife enjoyed it.

He had a couple of 'Moto Champ' machines which amazed me. Relays, eight-track, more wires than a telephone exchange. WOW!!

A version of Pong was even in the corner. He had a couple of tabletops, a NeoGeo six-slotter (I adjusted the monitor for him), and lots more.

Even more PC's than arcade stuff. (But no Microbee!)

He also had a couple of Telex machines, and as I spent quite a few years working with the Telex product when I was in Telecom/Telstra I enjoyed them too.

It's quite out of the way, but bear it in mind if you are ever in the area.

My memory is a bit sketchy, but I think Associated Leisure in Australia (Brisbane) had an AL inside an Australian map outline on their control panel overlays. I think they ran under the name of Natmar Holdings? They also ran all the Play Time (I think that was the name) Arcades. They were the main opposition to Time Zone (Allied Industries LAI) which are still in operation today. I think Associated Leisure closed their doors in the very late 90's.

I could be wrong on this but I think thats right?

  • 10 years later...
Can anyone on here tell me a bit about who Allied Leisure are/were?

I'm guessing they are not the same as LAI.

Allied Leisure was a competitor against LAI, operating arcades under the name Playtime. My father was the owner of Natmar Holdings which later became Allied Leisure. Shoot me an email on umashev.n@gmail.com if you have any questions

Honestly, who cares how old the thread is?? This is a forum, its for discussion... Why create a new thread to answer a question from an old thread???

No malice intended just an observation you sound like I was trying to start some trouble far from it.

No mate i dont care, but rebirthing of old threads is not a bad thing really.

If nothing else, it shows they made an effort to find the info!

Ahhh, so many memories of playing stuff in Playtime during my misspent youth in brissy, then ending up working for one for a year. Good times!
