Autosteve
Love my RPi with Openlec media center in it but although I use HDMI for the video, I use the AV plug for the sound. Monitor has no speakers so I use the AV sound port from the Rpi plugged into the input port on my car radio. Works but has noise. Question is can I get the sound output from the HDMI and run that into the car stereo and if so does it go straight in or do I need a converter to one, get it out of the HDMI lead without hacking the cable and two, do I need to convert it so the car radio 3.5mm input plug can read it?. Ryan555
I have used HDMI audio extractors with some success but have found USB sound cards more reliable. I have used ones with the PCM2704 chip ok. To get the sound out I just select the soundcard as the output in the software instead of the onboard 3.5mm. https://tinyurl.com/y3c6v6vs
oooPLAYER1ooo
These work pretty good https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fp%2F21003987475 Also a simple ground loop isolator could fix your noise problem https://www.jaycar.com.au/ground-loop-noise-isolator-stereo-3-5mm/p/AA3086
