Melbourne Silverball Tournaments @ Flipout 2019

I'm very pleased to be able to provide the details of the tournaments at Flipout 2019. We had a massive turnout last year and gave out close to $4000 in prize money and the WPPRs were well worth it. This year we aim to make it bigger and better and even if you can't (or don't want to) make the tournaments it's still worth coming to Flipout 2019 as there will be a huge collection of machines including new titles like Jurassic Park from Stern, Willy Wonka from Jersey Jack, Monster Bash Remake from Chicago Gaming Co, Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle from Spooky Pinball, Oktoberfest from American Pinball and many more!!!

Details of the tournaments at Flipout 2019 are:

Location:

Sandbelt Hotel 630 South Road Moorabbin VIC 3189

Schedule:

Friday 25th October 2019 (Tournament only day)

12pm – 6pm Main tournament qualifying

7:30pm to 10:30pm – Flipout 2019 Flip Frenzy

Saturday 26th October 2019

10am to 10pm – Main tournament qualifying continues

10pm – 12am - Volunteers qualifying session

7pm – 11pm – Melbourne Silverbelles and Chimes Women’s Comp

Sunday 27th October 2019

10am – 12:30pm – B Division Finals

1pm – 6pm – A Division Finals.

All tournaments will be run during the Flipout 2019 event at the Sandbelt Hotel 630 South Road Moorabbin with special thanks to Wayne from Mr Pinball and other sponsors of the event.

Note: The Melbourne Silverball Tournaments have an exclusive extra day on Friday the 25th of October just for qualifying and the Flip Frenzy which are only currently available by purchasing the All Access 3 Day pass.

Tournaments

Melbourne Silverball Tournament (Main tournament):

Format: Herb style qualifying with Matchplay finals for top 24 qualifiers (Top 16 A division, next 8 B Division)

Date / time: Qualifying Friday 25th Oct 12pm - 6pm and Saturday 26th Oct 10am - 10pm

Date / time:Finals Sunday 27th Oct - B Division finals 10am, A Division finals 1pm

The main tournament will be a herb style format over 8 machines of all eras with unlimited qualifying on Friday 12pm to 6pm, Saturday from 10am to 10pm. The price of entry is $30 which gives you 8 entries (the minimum requirement to qualify is 6 unique entries). Extra entries will be able to be purchased - 1 game for $3, 4 games for $10, 9 games for $20, 20 games for $40. Qualifying will be your best 6 results on 6 different machines (ie: at least 1 score on 6 unique machines) and scoring will be best game format eg: 100 points for 1st, 95 for 2nd, 93 for 3rd etc. The points for your best 6 games are added together for your overall score determining the top 24 qualifiers moving to either A or B Division finals.

There will be 16 players in the division A finals (qualifiers 1-16) and 8 players in the B division finals (qualifiers 17-24). 1 game tiebreakers will be played in the event of tied results for 16th and 24th.

B division finals will commence at 10am and A division finals will commence at 1pm. Rounds will be 4 player matchplay with 3 games per round with the top 2 players from each round progressing. Scoring will be 4, 2, 1, 0.

Flipout Flip Frenzy

Date / time: Friday 25th 7:30pm - 10:30pm

Format: Standard Flip Frenzy format with nett games for the win. 3 hours of continuous head to head play with the winner having the highest amount of wins minus losses.

As all machines at Flipout will be used for the Flip Frenzy this is a great opportunity for people to experience competitive pinball for the first time and you will play approx 15-20 matches.

Note: Currently access to the Flip Frenzy is only open to those with a 3 day All Access Pass to Flipout 2019

Melbourne Silverbelles and Chimes

Women's tournament

Date / time: Saturday 26th October 7pm - 11pm

Format: TBA

Prizes

Prizes will include trophies for the Top 3 finalists in A division as well as the winner of B division plus plaques for 2nd and 3rd place of B division. The prize pool will be made up of the entry fee + additional entries - trophy costs and split 70% to division A and 30% to division B.

Further split of the prize money will be:

A division 1st place: 65% of division A prize pool

A division 2nd place: 20% of division A prize pool

A division 3rd place: 10% of division A prize pool

A division 4th place: 5% of division A prize pool

B division will be the same with the prize pool available for B.

Flip Frenzy and Melbourne Silverbelles and Chimes prize pool is TBA
