Williams Pharaoh project/resto

Recommended Posts

Got myself a non working Pharaoh, i have a love for these early 80's games and have never actually played a Pharaoh before.

backglass was in fantastic shape, playfield in good shape too, only wear spot on the upper playfield where the ball comes up from the plunge, the factory? mylar seems to have cracked and a couple of inserts have dropped/ popped up

the previous owner unplugged everything from the boards, instaed of the 4 interconnecting plugs between headbox and cabinet,(fairly similar to my Black Knight to recconect up)

had some strange connectors lol

not enought pins in the plug? just solder the last two on

edge connector ? WTF? dont know how good the GI was working with this

but i do recommend Duracell ( use by 2002) no leakage

20190719_181159.thumb.jpg.1f59995b4b374a46fe92b608a073e079.jpg

replaced with Pinscore power supply as it is easy to see voltages via the LEDs

but, unable to get any power as the power transformer is Kaput.

(uanble to delete these two pics below :p )

Great game, was at the barn. Can’t quite work out how to get MB’s but kept going back to it for more plays

So the transformer has no output? Weird for that to go

Get the right number of "Pharaoh" letters through the top target banks (two on mine) and then lock the ball in the top or bottom lock. A new ball will come out and the locked ball will be released, usually between 2-5 seconds after scoring begins. If you drain before it releases it will automatically release.

Its alive !!

not working 100% doing some funny sound issues, left flippers not working, but its getting there,

I couldnt get a system 7 transformer, but got a System 6 - same voltages, only difference is the 6 is in the backbox the 7 is in the cabinet, so the 6 transformer has shorter wiring.

Used the outlet wires from the 7 trans on the sys 6 trans and we are in business :D

bit of an update, seemed to be going well, almost working 100% until i screwed some more screws into the cpu and driver boards ( previously only 2 screws at the top and 2 at the bottom)

Then it wouldn't start up, all soleniods fired upon power on and no displays...

take all the "new" screws back out and it kind of works.... hmmm push on the boards and all solenoids fire again and displays go out.... problem with the 40 pin connetor

had bit of a go at re pinning, farked it up, i don't usually do any board work,( this is why, but i thought i would give it a go) removing pins ended up lifting alot of tracks on the CPU..:x new CPU ordred. Driver board survived :rolleyes

mostly bit of a clean up, pretty filthy

was going to use Yellow posts as i had them lying around, but realised that i didn't have enough.. so if i have to order new ones might as well order orange

I've been very slack with updating

Boards back from Ken, and Pharoah is running like it should be.

The previous issue with the left flipper not working was from all the times the driver board was in and out of the game the flipper relay doesnt have a cover and was bumped ..derr simple things are good to fix

A few blue LED's for the faded blue inserts

Clean up up the drops, rebuilt/modified lower flippers to get up the ramps, kick out/up changed coil to give it a bit more oomph

Do you mind if I ask how you reglued the inserts? did you leave them in and just add glue around the edges from the underside? Also, what type of glue was used?

I was so close to buying a Pharoah years back....very good looking game.
