SKT73
G'day all I'm running a 2 player R'pi cab and after attending KOF3 I've got a hankering to try and replicate the feel of an OG DK stick. I'm wondering can anyone point me to a stick that has the short solid feel with a 4 way gate that I can build a 1 player deck to drop in and hook up via USB decoder and to a degree at least replicate the 'feel' of the OG DK controls. Many thx. SKT Sent from my SM-A305YN using Aussie Arcade mobile app

SKT73
Righto. Cheers mate. And to clarify... that'll go straight to a USB encoder no probs? I can see the blades so I am familiar with that type of connection having replaced the sticks in my R.pi cab already. Hayaeti
You mean like a Ipac or Jpac? Yeah... just wire them in directly to the connectors. You can get good at DK with any stick you want, as long as it's 4 way. But it's better to use the nintendo ones if you plan on attending a Kong off as it will take you time to adapt. It's just a micro-switch joystick so should work with an encoder. - - - Updated - - - This is the one for wooden control panels (Upright Donkey Kong) https://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=TKGU-23-
SKT73
Cheers. I can't be sure what the encoder in mine is tbh. I've been beating on a $100 double setup for a year or so. I should dig it out and get some info if I want legit help hey. I'm running a pair of Zippy 8 way sticks at the moment and although yeah I can play and learn but I def would like to try to replicate the feel of the few legit cabs I can play in the local spots. Even a few games I played toolin around at KO3 I could feel the precision and response was up. I can turn the gate that would be a start. Orrrrr......i was just hyped. Doubt it.....sticks felt a truck load better.
Vadership
The one from Mikes arcade will be fine if your using Zippyy's right now, the only thing is that the mounting holes might not line up. Mikes arcade also has the best reproduction Nintendo buttons.
Administrators Brad Posted August 12, 2019 Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2019 Zippies are pure shit. Way to much movement, too damn light and almost impossible to play 4 ways games decently unless you use the restrictor. You could probably get a better result using the short shaft zippies and adjust the micro-switches to be a lot tighter but you're better off with decent joysticks instead. Kaizen
There's a huge difference between the Nintendo stick and Zippy's so if your intending to play at Kong Off then definitely go with the sticks from Mikes arcade. If you're ordering the sticks then grab one of the DK/Nintendo buttons at the same time so you get used them as they have a different feel to the Happ/generic buttons.
