T2 single drop target issue, help wanted

raysco

Question

I have an issue with the single drop on a T2.

At the start of each ball it resets about 5 times. There was a switch 77 error in the test report and

I have replaced the broken switch.

This switch sits at the bottom of the drop assy and is activated by the solenoid lift plunger.

The sequence of events as it appears to me is that the drop gets lifted so is up at the start of a ball, this opens switch 77, however then the plunger drops again as power is removed this then activates switch 77 again. This sequence goes for about 5 cycles then stops with switch 77 closed.

It's almost like the plunger is too heavy so activating the switch. Or the plunger should be held up with the drop until the drop goes down.

However I can't quite see this in the parts list.

What am I missing? :o

Here are my tear down pics Ray. Unfortunately no cleaned up reinstalled pics. I think the little black plastic lip piece is critical. Welcome to look at mine...and help.me with a centaur issue at the same time [emoji106]20190326_150704.thumb.jpeg.9d963cea9d12e47be5ecc21dc1e944aa.jpeg20190326_150658.thumb.jpeg.c77d42cf77dc6222c851e02d2fbcf1da.jpeg20190326_150645.thumb.jpeg.52eb32bb0d6c0e967e66136c86a88825.jpeg20190326_140515.thumb.jpeg.7dc2bde98ac64fa7882c6bbf97ed6eba.jpeg20190326_140512.thumb.jpeg.3058194ccedc561b4995df28a39b0366.jpeg20190324_140037.thumb.jpeg.82e9b7caa0893c9dacaf7230d1e1f153.jpeg

Perfect Kurt, picture 3 tells me the whole story.

It looks like the one I have here has been assembled wrong sometime in the last 5 years :lol

I think I actually answered my own question in my first post.

I pulled the mech out but couldn't see the issue.

Your picture nails it. :D

Nope, in pic 6 the tab is on the outside of the drop :(

I have tied the drop and the plunger tab together and it is all working exactly as it should.

So what am I missing :(

Work the micro switch and make sure it is around the right way as in NC or NO not physically turning the switch around. It sounds like it may be wired wrong.

I say this because when that target breaks, very often, the coil does not repeatedly try resetting it indicating to me it registers the dropped target, not when it is up.

Also if this switch is wiring incorrectly it will show up in the errors immediately where as when the switch fails, it takes 50 odd balls to show up an error and I assume you would have worked that switch while trying to find what is wrong so why is it showing an error so quickly?.

Ok, I admit it I'm an idiot.

The switch 77 is not activated by the solenoid plunger but by a small lug on the back of the plastic drop itself.

Effectively I just had the actuator arm of the switch in the wrong place. :redface
