Dark-ish smudge on screen - screen burn?

Recommended Posts

G’day!

Hey quick question if I may?

There is a dark-ish smudge / mist on a section of one of my tubes. It’s really only visible during the boot screen when it’s totally white and really not visible during game play.

Is this screen burn?

Thanks in advance and appreciate any input [emoji106]

Could also be a purity issue if it doesn't come out with a good degauss.

If it's really stubborn, a good test is to move the entire cabinet in different directions and see if it clears up. I have two cabs that don't like being faced a particular way and get a similar stain if they are.

Screen burn in is best seen when the machine is off and still visible on the screen is "Game Over". It appears as a darker section exactly where the Game over appears when the machine is on. Because that part of the image is always there and the machine is mainly in attract mode where it is generated, the phosphorous inside the tube deteriorates and you get burn in.
