Wide to narrow IC DIP Socket Adapter.

Berty

Question

So - ordered some very uncommomn SRAM chips and found that they are the normal width chips (15.2mm leg width) as opposed to the narrow width chips (7.6mm) that the board had originally.

Given that I am unlikely to find the narrow versions of these chips, I am resigned to making adapters. So I need to go from a 28PIN DIP socket with 15.2mm leg spacing down to a 28PIN DIP male with 7.6mm width. (2.54mm pitch on both ends).

I am thinking that I will just get a normal 28 pin dip socket, some header terminal strips and a vero type PCB board to make adapters.

Is there a better way to do this, or low cost, pre-built alternatives as I need to do this for a few chips?

Seams like these have 3 different packages :o

LH5168D-10L :-

"D" = 28pin, 300-mil, SK-DIP

if it has a "blank" eg. LH5168-10L = 600-mil, DIP .. wide body ..

i've had a look on the net & many sellers...

but for quick fix then you were on the right track with socket & headers
