0 Super Moderator GIBO Posted February 4, 2019 Super Moderator Share Posted February 4, 2019 Easier and cheaper to just convert it over to a 240v ballast

0 pinball god
Put in a led tube and get rid of the ballast completely Interested in doing this. Is this difficult to do? Thinking of doing on a rfm. What parts are required
0 swine hoont
Remove ballast and starter and connect directly. No parts required unless you add an inline fuse (1 or 2 amp), just put the high voltage to the correct side of the tube.
0 Boots
Put in a led tube and get rid of the ballast completely Or mod it with a 90’s style light board Surprised the various LE’s don’t get this as at least an option
0 wise1
That would work well if the tube was 5ft long. This is the ballast that Amd supply for stern machines or did supply about 5 years ago. It worked just fine. But if you know better then lets hear it.
0 toads
This is the ballast that Amd supply for stern machines or did supply about 5 years ago. It worked just fine. But if you know better then lets hear it. Fluro's wattage is usually dependent on it's length. Eg a 2 foot is 18watts, a 4 ft is 36watts, a 5 foot is 58 watts. The pins have a standard 2foot 18W tube. The ballast should be matched to the wattage of the tube. The manual calls for a 13watt ballast, not sure if that's a typo as all the ballasts I've seen in sterns are 18w ballast. All though it's quite common to see 13 watt ballasts in 18watt fittings. - - - Updated - - - You can also bridge out the ballast(or take it out all together) and put a 2foot led tube in there. You must replace the starter with a fuse link(that comes with the tube) as well. It also comes with stickers to let service people know it has been converted to led. At work I try to keep the original fluro's working and try to stay clear of leds because if I changed everything to led, my job becomes redundant.
