Current games room, ideas..

Recommended Posts

Hi all, im in the process of doing up my garage so to speak or gym room ish, i have ideas put i would like peoples input for some different ideas that im still deciding on.

So i wanna do it up like space theme crossed with a tron theme but im contemplating whether or not to go full all out which would rquire me to demolish my stone bench and cabinets or leave on rear of room? see attached pic. i have started building custom designer columns which will go in between two pinballs so ive allowed x6 columns in total, see pics?

So im asking for opinions if i should convert or replace rear cabinet with a space ship design console?? last pic is an idea ive seen i like.20190616_125012.thumb.jpeg.546f5426b6a1f281635c7df4d6e486c9.jpeg20181226_104943.thumb.jpeg.c84329bd77a8fbef807d3cebcf1180ee.jpeg20190114_113233.thumb.jpeg.aea540c3405798bd2ffe7258b54ff435.jpeg20190114_113901.thumb.jpeg.07371f7aee6062604a140a0c9460c7fd.jpegimages-1.jpeg.c1c44d8a101e3ba5adff182f3ae41dd6.jpeg80555213-spaceship-interior-with-view-on-space-and-distant-planets-system-3d-rendering-elements.jpeg.9d1c28e9ce70a9ddfb8c134aad661fb3.jpeg

My opinion is its ambitious, will cost a lot, you'll likely not be happy with it entirely and will take a lot of time.

So what are you waiting us to talk you out of it? You've already started. [emoji14]

I think it will be unique and great.

Depending on what you use the cabinets for, you may miss them or even need to replace them if demolished.

If you do any work on the pins (which of us doesn’t?) you will want some sort of work bench.

If you have people over, you need somewhere for drinks and nibbles - this being away from the pins is good.

Maybe divide the area off or seperate it somehow? Maybe a half height wall, which you could light to match the theme somehow?

What about a bar built in front of the bench? I could see some pretty cool lighting features behind some bottles on mirrored shelves above the bench.

Whatever you decide, it looks like a great space. I’m jealous here of the room for sure!

Mike.

Yes, I agree. Many games rooms will inevitably look the same. If you have something different and unique to suit your use, I say go for it too!

I am in the same boat, as I am building a new home and have a designated area at the rear of a large oversized garage to design my own area (games room and gym/training area). I am looking at something very different and I guess unique too. So do whatever you want but give it that 'wow' factor when people walk into the space. Good luck but what you have started looks fantastic. Great to have the skills to do that.

thanks all for comments. attached is my cinema room which is next to my propsed games room so im trying to keep same colour theme for both rooms. then theres the ideas of doing a space ship door entrance theme as ive done for cinema room.. it never endshttps://www.aussiearcade.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=149784https://www.aussiearcade.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=149785

Your garage is impressive on its own. Check out this floppy flex neon led lighting. It’s an improvement over the “lots of dots” LED strips.

For your cinema, look into black diamond screens. The difference is impressive. You can also do a diy version with rustoleum metallic accent pearl white and a matte black. I'm going for the second option as the screens are a pretty penny and I'd rather spend elsewhere.

You are right, it never ends. It comes down to how good is your imagination and how deep are your pockets.

That cinema entrance looks sensational. Love it.

uploaded youtube video of cinema room and games room. the hall to the games room im still deciding to do up the entrance of the games room spaced theme. inside the games room the tape markings on the floor are column design positions but still decided to removed rear cabinet and fridge for future pinball space...

Yes i agree. I've been renting this shed for months that adjoins my warehouse at nearly $200 just so i don't have neighbours and so i can have somewhere to put machines when my collection grows so much that i have more than the 5 or 6 machines that will fit in my lounge room.

Still looks the same as this but with more dust on the floor. I am jealous of your skills and your motivation.

There are plenty of chippies around, but 'Good' chippies are hard to find. Especially ones that take care and are passionate about what they do. Keep the updates coming as I love this shit!

the hobby of pinballs... its amazing the lengths you go to for them..

Yes exactly, know what you mean. There is definitely a fine line and you can just go too far sometimes. You are right if your partner loves em too.

Your collection of pins is very nice too.

Don't ever underestimate a small games room area/space that can accomodate up to 6-8 pins. If you choose wisely with different types of machines with varying themes and gameplay, and of course your room is unique and just simply 'pops and works', you are set, and this can be very enviable. I have seen huge games room areas with 20+ machines but it just doesn't feel accommodating and cosy.

We are all different but I like the small personal collections of up to 8 pins. Especially when they are inside the house and a nice temperature to play in. My last garage/games room space was bloody cold in winter and damn roasting in summer.
