New Twilight Zone Prox (eddy) Sensors - now available

Tangles

Question

After a long design phase, a long wait for parts, and a few epic cock-ups from me, I have two new Eddy Sensor boards available for Twilight Zone (TZ).

As these boards are difficult to get anywhere in the world... I decided to give it a crack... BUT...

If only you knew how hard it was to get the freakin' sensor coils "just right" on these little bastards..... quite a few soothing rums went into the design phase of these... but that's a story I will have to keep for another time.

These boards (for detecting the Power Ball) are located in the subway leading to Slot Machine kickout and in the ball trough.

Subway Sensor

Not a lot to say about this board. Super easy to install. Nice multi-turn pot for calibration. Only one plug as the sensor is printed on the PCB.

Trough Sensor

There are a lot of TZ machines out there with bad trough sensors as a poor installation will have the ball smack the sensor coil. This is quite prevalent due to the close proximity the coil needs to be to detect the ball.

The good news is, the new Tangles' board boasts improved detection distance so you can mount the the coil a couple of mm further out giving a better safety margin.

Other features of the new Tangles' part include:

  • Includes replacement Sensor coil and metal bracket. ( replacing A-16538)
  • New design sensor coil offers greater detection distance.
  • Adjustable via a multi-turn potentiometer to provide the most reliable detection.
  • Artisanally crafted sensor coil - wound with my very own rum soaked fingers.
  • Each sensor coil receives a few choice words of encouragement(!) from Tangles (for maximum product endurance)
