TMNT Arcade Cab Speaker Replacement

namastepat

Question

Hey guys,

My TMNT speakers are shot to hell and sound like crap, time to replace them.

I pulled them out today and they have the following specs.

Brand: Redford Extended Range Loud Speaker 40hz-17khz

Power Rating: 6W RMS 10W Max 8ohm.

Size: 8 inch diameter.

I've done some googling and found a shitload of speakers, not sure exactly what I need.

Does anyone have any advice on the best ones to buy? Locally based would be best, but ordering from overseas is fine if no local ones.

Thanks!

Pretty sure it's JAMMA mono with two speakers wired in parallel, I am not 100% sure. There are three wires that come off the volume pot, ground, blue and brown. Both speakers are connected to the blue wire, so I am not sure what the brown is.

Where is this stereo header on the board? My board is just wired up via JAMMA and nothing else.

There's a JST-NH 4 pin header which outputs speaker level stereo audio. Also a dipswitch that enables stereo and cuts the jamma mono audio.

Would sound a heck of a lot better in stereo. :)

I don't see one of these anywhere on my board, nothing obvious anyway. I assume it would be a small 4 or 5 pin connection on the PCB itself? Were there some boards with this connector and others without?
