Errr, bodged-up Christmas light?

You sure that is original, it looks pretty sus to me?

Not the first SEGA/Whitestar Ive seen it on. [emoji2369]

Tends to be on motors etc. There are about 3 in Apollo 13, seen them on Stern Playboys as well.

You're all correct, seems like its a neon globe.

Surprisingly most electronic shops still stock them as they seem to be used in some of their high-school kits.

Learn something new everyday, thanks everyone for the assistance. :)

It would be most unlikely to be faulty, unless it has leaked the neon gas. They are high voltage 70-240 ac/dc volt range depending on type.

Yeah I think you're right. The one I'm replacing is actually cracked and broken (definitely kaput), the posted pic was just as a reference.

Seems the one on the shuttle motor is the same as the broken one on the moon motor, rated at 120V.

Once I knew what I was looking at it ended up being pretty easy to chase down. Jaycar Electronics have them in different colors even - not that it matters of course.
