X Files Sega transistor issue

Jamie

Question

Have found my Q1 transistor associated with the trough up kicker coil keeps blowing out. Swapped a good tested driver board that lasted for a few days only. Tested coil for ohms ok also swapped out coil diode with no luck so far.

From what I've been reading these older deleted transistors, the 20N10L, wasn't the best and the recommended irl540n is better but will that be enough? What other things should i consider? Could the opro switch associated with this coil have anything to do with it? It appeared to check out ok also. Any suggested would be great thanks.

Is the plunger sticking causing the tranny to overheat?
No it seems to be moving freely. Tested coil for ohms and so on but changing it might be worth a try id say.
