I would also like to give the painted area under the pop bumpers a bit of a touch up but I’m not sure how to go about it any ideas fellas? I have heard of specially made stick on coloured Mylar rings has anyone tried these ?

When I touched up my playfield of my Card Whiz, I purchased some watercolour paints that were very close and just watered them down and painted the whole area under the bumper. Came up real nice. Then I put a clear protector under the bumper.

I have made and used decals over the damaged pop bumper area - I was quite happy with the result.

I really like the way the Mustang decals turned out, I clicked on your link but nothing happened when I tried to click on the download icon the red decal would probably work perfect and I’m thinking might be able to change the colour to blue for the other one I need ?

Are the links still active?

  • 2 weeks later...

Bit more progress today a little bit of a start on the mechanicals this time, first off in my PBR order I got a spring kit for the step unit as I had to replace the missing clacker unit spring anyway so I thought I might as well replace them all.

https://i.imgur.com/OZZ6v8v.jpg

So springs all replaced with new ones now and the new clacker bell is in place and there was about 3 wires broken that I had to trace back and re join and re-solder.

Another thing that I wanted to do right and make reliable was the pop bumpers, so ordered three pop bumper re-build kits and new coils to install as well.

One down and re-built two to go

Ok all three done and another job crossed off the list.

I don’t know about anyone else but I can only handle small sessions on these things otherwise I find they start giving me the shits.

Hey millsy I finally got around to trying to make the pop bumper decals from your downloads I even got the yellow ones converted to the blue that I need, next was a test print and they came up the size of about a fifty cent piece.

What am I doing wrong and how do you size them correctly for printing?

Cheers

Rob

A bit more playing around with the printer properties I managed to double their size but I still need to double it again to get close to actual size

Hey Rob... had a lot of time in the printing industry. Simplest way would be to save your artwork (assuming it's just line art...no pics) as a TIFF file.

Tiff files are "non lossy" which means you can print them at any size with no loss of quality and no bit map images showing up. This is only for line art though. Pic files need to be scanned at the correct size and printed at 100%.

Hope this helps in some way.

Might be worth printing to File size?

that should work if the file is correctly sized.

Will try a bit more tonight when I get some free time the printer properties get a bit confusing sometimes though

Rob, DPI has no bearing on sizing. DPI is how many dots per square inch the printer is going to output. The higher the DPI the sharper the image.

You say in a previous post that you are outputting the image at the size of a 50 cent piece which is 30mm from edge to edge. A typical pop bumper would be around 60 to 75mm. Lets say it's 75mm for this example.

Do some simple math: 75mm divided by 30mm = 2.5. Times the 2.5 x 100 and you'll have 250. 250 is the percentage you will need to set your printer to print the logo. Set the dpi to the highest setting for a sharp output.

You'll find all these setting at your print output settings.

I’m just using the normal software that comes with he laptop that I’m using and I’ve gone through all the tabs including the advanced settings and there isn’t any option that says use default image size.
