MGL 29 - Scoreboard

Recommended Posts

After 3 games have been completed, it's ON!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/SB3_zpsqyuyyaob.png

Batfink calls it in Gun Smoke and goes from 38th place to 33rd place ... :023:

zanderzone goes from 34th place to 31st place ...

Paperboyhunter goes from 33rd place to 32nd place ... :041:

JR_OutRun86 likewise goes up one from 31st place to 30th place ... :038:

Flash IV from 32nd place to 29th place ...

skids and mark68 both move up one position ...

BandontheRun and mark68 are tied for 24th place ... swordfight

Barra moves from 23rd place to 19th place ... and he leads Lady Bug too ... so his elevator is only going up!

Rat sky rockets from 24th place to 14th place ...

We have 3 gamers tied in 16th place ... JustAnotherRat, Powrie and thejudge ... who will finish higher than the other after 9? ...

camaro goes from 15th to 13th place and makes nice progress ... but lets everyone know on Tetris, "he is out of here" ... :073:

Snjspiteri ... even though slow to join us ... continues his march upward with a fine transition from 12th place to 9th place ...

DKong shoots his way from 8th place to 6th place ...

And Sawys works hard to go from 5th place to 4th place ...

outrun86 and RMacauley are tied for 2nd place ... :062:

46 points separate the Top 20 ... only 29 the Top 10 ... and only 6 points the Top 4!

6 games to go ... bug infested vegetable mayhem + insane blocks of speed + can't say (not so brutal) + can't say (brutal - beware) + can't say (never played before in the MGL) + can't say again (no clues!).

That's a lot of can't saying ... but I can say ... good luck and enjoy the remaining games! ... :D

So my wife and kids ask why I'm playing these particular games over and over. I said I'm in a tournament.

With who?

I don't know a bunch of guys from Australia.

You'll never win, there are kids and unemployed people that can spend all their time playing these things.

No, I don't think it like that. I think most of these guys are in their 30s and 40s.

Oh so they're losers like you?

Yea. I guess so.

After 4 games have been completed, there have been some interesting position changes on the overall scoreboard due to player scores on Lady Bug ...

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/SB4_zpsbj0k2wmx.png

Everybody has changed their position on the ladder ... except for Rodsy in 36th place and CWK in 1st place ... that's 39 changes!

So 5 games to go ... make sure you have plenty of spirit in your tank ... as we have more than half the tournament to go!

Congrats to everyone who had a position change, hope more moved up than down??? Is that possible ??? Newton's third law [emoji23]

I moved down on purpose to let a few of you go up lol.

Wasn't Ladybug a great game! Would love one of those Universal cabs :-)

Ladybug really is a great game. Often with current games, the "game" is lost in lieu of fancy graphics. Back in the 8 bit day - we were forced to create a good game as we knew the graphics would never be realistic.

Would love to see the game of Ladybug updated to newer graphics and sounds.

Often back in the 8 bit days, the games with the best graphics were often the worst games as the developers would use all of their resources on graphics and forget about the game play, or have used all of their limited computing resources up (e.g. RAM). This was probably more true of the 8 bit home computer systems at the time more than the arcade games though.

After 5 games have been completed, this scoreboard has further great twists and turns, after the results came in from Tetris ... nothing is a given in this tournament!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/SB5_zpss7ep7nth.png

Zander moves up from 40th place to 38th place ... and it's great to see a young-ling on the up ...

Fire_Power moves up to 2 spots to 35th place ...

Batfink scores well in Tetris to move up from 34th to 30th place ...

zanderzone follows his kids and moves from 29th place to 27th place ...

Paperboyhunter, impressively for his very young age, moves up from 28th place to 26th place ...

JR_OutRun86 moves up likewise ... 2 places from 27th place to 25th place ...

Flash IV ups 2 from 25th place to 23rd place ...

mark68 goes from 23rd place to 21st place ...

John73 elevates from 21st place to 20th place ...

spectre moves up from 20th place to 19th place ...

Vikleroy continues his march upward with a really good score in Tetris, to be now in 18th place ...

BandontheRun high tails it further since the last game to move 4 spots, from 17th place to 13th place ... :run:

Powrie likewise impresses in his last game to match that 4 spot leap, and goes from 16th place to 12th place ... :026:

smkrogman smashes Tetris ... and earns the max points to move from 12th place to 10th place ...

Barra's fine 2nd place in the last game moves him from 10th place into 8th place ... nice!

magrinder improves 1 spot and nears the podium finishes, from 8th place to 7th place ... and is 1 spot above Barra ...

kane is playing really well each week and moves from 6th place to 5th place ...

RMacauley doesn't let the blocks bother him, so he uses the blocks to move from 5th place to now 3rd place!

And bigredbird scores late, makes some nice moves with the Lego, and moves from 3rd place to 2nd place ...

Plus we have 3 ties on the table ...

BandontheRun and thejudge (what a great name to have in the MGL!) are both locked on 425 points ... and 13th place ...

Nicko71 and smkrogman are both locked on 443 points ... and 9th place ...

RMacauley and Sawys are both locked on 461 points ... and 3rd place ...

Who will win these individual battles as they are now ... after 9?

4 games to go ... keys and bullets ... plus 2 more mystery games to test your skills and learning abilities ...

@OOO and everyone else playing in the MGL.

Sadly I am out of this MGL.

A clean up in my games room has turned into a renovation. My games are unplugged and in the corner behind a pile of boxes.

It all started when my wife decided to clean out our storage room which is located behind the games room.

The clean up quickly turned into a wall being removed.

The wall being removed has led to the whole room now requiring painting.

The room being painted means now the window furnishings don't match so we need new stuff.

The kids gaming stuff (Xbox PlayStation wii N64) now has to move to a new location.

Because the kids stuff has moved we now need more couches for them.

And so on and so on and so on...

I'm happy to be changing my games room bit a bit disappointed because 2nd was the highest I have been overall in an MGL.

I will continue to follow each game and I hope to return in a few games time as a player. Perhaps my new surroundings will encourage me to reach new PBs!

Game on.

When I started reading this post I thought it was headed in the direction of your wife had finally had enough of the games. They all have to go for a sewing room! In the long run, it'll be good bigbluebird.

I'll throw something out to you... a simple laptop and a mame dl will get you up and running in any room of the house, garage, neighbors house, hotel, bar, brothel etc. While it's not your end all premium setup, it's a really fast and easy option.

GL on your updates. Whatever you end up doing, please be sure your awesome game room does not end up looking like this:

After 8 games have been completed, the overall scoreboard shows many close finishes as we go into the last game for MGL29 ...

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l500/sno-bee/SB8_zpsmxhj1omp.png

Several single digit differences can be seen in the last column in orange ... and we have a tie for 12th place, camaro and CrazyKongFan are both on 687 points ...

In the U16 division, Paperboyhunter has narrowed the points gap to only 4 points and is just behind the leader in JR_OutRun86. Both also place 20th and 19th respectively and are now in the Top 20 ...

1 game to go ... Bank Panic ... a fun game with plenty of strategy and reflex action to improve your score ... go read Barra's post on hints to improve your game ... and see what you can do!

After 66 days of very challenging arcade gaming and banter, MGL29 has now come to a close.

The final standings are below:

http://i.imgur.com/lc56myA.png

CONGRATULATIONS to the Top 20 in MGL29 … where we had 41 competitors battle it out over 9 games … of which 3 games were the first time ever played in the MGL.

These were Solomon’s Key, 1943:The Battle of Midway and Arabian.

Congratulations to CWK on his second consecutive MGL win … he won 3 games and made many impressive scores … well done!

Sawys played all the way from Marseille, winning one game and took out an excellent 2nd place …

bigredbird makes the smack … and backs it up … with a great performance for 3rd place. Thanks for the Arabian tips and the sewing lessons.

kane played so well for the whole tournament … after 7 games he was in 2nd place … and with 2 to go he only missed by 2 points on 3rd place at the finish … and hit a nice 4th place …

Barra as always plays a great game no matter what it is … and took out Bank Panic for a very entertaining 5th place …

RMacauley scores steady … finally gets to play his favourite 1943:TBoM … and finishes in 6th place … only 1 point behind Barra in 5th place … matching his 6th place in the previous MGL …

Bishop joins us for his 2nd MGL tournament all the way from WA … makes an effort in all the games … and finishes with a stellar 7th place ...

magrinder gets a little dizzy from all the travel … New Hampshire to Chicago and back … plays on his trusty laptop … and scores a nice 8th place …

smkrogman played great in Tetris for a very strong win … and finished with a good 9th place …

outrun86 played very well in Games 1 and 2 and played consistently well enough for the remainder to record a fine 10th place …

thejudge playing in his 2nd MGL makes an excellent score in Solomon’s Key to just miss out on 1st place in that game … and overall plays well for 11th place … just missing the Top 10 by 1 point!

camaro played all 9 games this time with no trips to Fiji … and finishes nicely in 12th place …

CrazyKongFan plays steady in all of the games and just finishes into 13th place by 1 point! …

BandontheRun plays brilliantly on LadyBug for the W for an overall 14th place and just misses by 1 point on the next placing …

Vikleroy plays his 1st MGL and finishes with 15th place …

spectre does the 1 game special and places in 16th place … he could do so much better if he had more coins! …

Flash IV plays some great games and finishes in 17th place …

Batfink misses 1 game … and still finishes well in a good 18th place …

I would like to make a special mention about JR_OutRun86 (19th place), Paperboyhunter (20th place), Dom (31st place) and Zander (40th place) in the U16 division … you all played well … I hope you enjoyed your gaming … and beating your dad in some of the games!

So the podium finished with a Canadian in 1st place, a Frenchman in 2nd place and an Australian in 3rd place … then an Australian in 4th place and a New Zealander in 5th place … a truly world title. Maybe in the next MGL we will have a Martian and Miranda in the placings for the universe title … :lol

With 9 games contested there were 7 different game winners …

CWK, OOO, BandontheRun, smkrogman, kane, Sawys and Barra.

Congratulations to the game winners too …

Champion:

I also wanted to make a special thanks to outrun86 for opening up his game room … thank his family ... and sharing his arcade projects in the MGL29 launch video … :023:

The mystery prize will be drawn in a few minutes …
