1.21 Gigawatts
Beautiful work. Tell me, what is the hardest part about these restores? The playfield re-populating must require so much patience. Sent from my iPhone using Aussie Arcade
KJS
Thanks. Hardest part is definitely repopulating the playfield for me. Especially little forecasting things like checking the width of the new playfield will suit the cab...they all vary a few mm. And possibly the time it takes when you are polishing everything. But the hardest aspect I find is sourcing parts, missing stuff and then having to reorder and then receiving stuff that is sub par quality or not just right. Wasted alot of time and money on this area. Also having to use multiple suppliers. I also find so much variance in the stainless. I think I've only got a couple to mirror finish the rest I just cant get fully there but still nice. Like scoops and lane guides etc. Just bought 2 big arse buffing machines so I'm going to have my graded wheels all lined up like a mini production line. Put up with the drill in vice setup now and dremel for too long! Time is the killer with other family and work commitments as well. I can't have a restore sitting there for months on end but also bang one out in 2 weeks either. So at the moment I have 3 machines being done by other hand picked craftsmen...possibly better and more skilled than myself! I also have 2 more I am doing myself of which I have duplicates Bk2000 and Firepower. I find it helps heaps you have 2 if possible so you have immediate reference point and then your used ok parts can go to the second machine if they are needed. This comes at a cost though in the long run. Also have 2 Meteors and Centaurs going so my little shed is chockers. I don't do playfields at all as I am not skilled at it and also not setup for it. Would rather leave to the experts or go nos or repro. I'm an electronics technician by trade but also send all my boards to Skybeaux for refurbs as he is setup for it and does great reliable work and as far as I'm concerned the best. KJS
I'm going to change this topic to last few restores! I'm hopeless but enjoy it too much. Bk2000 coming back from the dead. Started as a very rough tired project. I have a second nice players one along side it which makes the process alot easier. I reckon I've still got another 50 hours to go... KJS
Well not enough hours in the weekend this time but getting closer. Speaker panel, switch tuning and an annoying door switch fault I cant work out! Adjust button not working. Some shots of customer trim bits and lightning. Star post LEDs are great to use everywhere. ozdave
Is this strip you have on here felt or the loop from velcro or something else? I’ve tried some felt but it’s been too thick.
