Even the "exploit" or "hack" is fine unless mentioned otherwise by the TD before the comp begins.

The so called exploit is not consistent and seeing how low we score anyway on that machine, it's not a big deal to easily start a mode or get 10% on 50M :-D

I wouldn't use the term "soft plunge" tho, as you can and even HAVE to soft plunge on almost any Stern (GB, GOT, GOTG, MET, Kiss, Aerosmith, the Sopranos come to mind, there's probably more) to avoid pops or playfield validation and get a few free shots at something valuable.

I don't think Ghostbusters should be in any comp :) (where do you see it in major US comps?)

<violon music fade-in>

cue in Michi for a speech on Trudeau and Ghostbusters scoring

I've talked in length about how to fix that machine...

- Skillshots need to be able to be disabled in the settings. All of them. First mode would be started by hitting Ghost once, then a major shot to pick a mode ladder

- video mode shouldn't be available as a skillshot EVER, or its value should be halved. You want to play pinball? Play pinball

- the left scoop should have a ball save like the right scoop (premium/LE) / right saucer (Pro)

- no 10% of additional score, ever.

- magna slings should have a tournament mode where they act more like sling shots and less like HUOYHYUHU there goes your ball straight down the center

It's a great arcade/collector machine, sounds great, looks good; but it's a no go machine in tournaments.

I agree. Pretty much all the American tournaments have given it the flick. Besides the unbalanced scoring, there are also a lot of issues around playfield validation. Apparently, it's possible to start a multi-ball without having validated the playfield.

Hello everyone!

BRISBANE PINBALL CLUB RESULTS - 13/2/2018

Tuesday's meet was smack bang in the middle of a very busy 9-day pinball extravanganza (in particular for those that took the trek to Adelaide), and we still ended up with a wonderful 39 players in attendance.* Despite the busy calendar, the potential of storms and some players suffering illness, this was a great turn out, which got to see Rob McIntyre come away with his first ever tournament win.* Rob defeated high ranking players in Peter Watt, Chris Jennings and myself (not in that order) to jump to the top.* There were also some great results for Scott Piper and Emily Smith - both of whom reached the finals for any event to date for the first time!* A special shout out (with possibly some bias) goes to my brother Aaron, who narrowly missed his first-ever finals by just 1 point!

Here are the final results from the night, which have been submitted to the IFPA this evening:

Sorry for the late post. Brisbane Pinball Club will be on again tomorrow night at Netherworld. Qualifying starts from 4pm, and all games MUST be completed by 9pm. $15 entry, pay on arrival.

Tomorrow night's machines will be done via a random drawing. It is possible that Dialed In may not be included in that line up, due to the fact that it is a long playing game. There will also be another side comp tomorrow night as well, which will also be chosen at random late tomorrow.

See you there tomorrow night!

The time has finally come for the 2nd demoralising, demonic endurance hell they call 'Death By Pinball'. The Netherworld will be closed to the public on this day to make way for the truly terrifying, torturous ritual - A 24 hour pinball marathon, not for the feint of heart. A ‘match play’ event, you’ll be pitted against Netherworld’s gnarliest denizens over many, many, many rounds until the early hours of the following day. In between rounds, you’ll be free to play Netherworld’s many machines, compete in a side comp or have a quick rest on the ‘stage pit of shame’.

Special rewards will be given to those that actually survive the night. Each survivor will get a special Death By Pinball patch.

When: Bad Saturday the 31st of March from 9am until 9am the following morning.

Tickets: $100 each – comes with entry, a limited edition pin, limited edition t-shirt, 3 meals and 2 drinks. BYO snacks. Cash prizes for the top places!

The bar will be open, though alcohol service will cease at 3am. The bar will be closed to the public for this event - Only those with tickets will be permitted entry. Tickets are limited!

PINCADIA 'BELLES & CHIMES'

Taken from the Pincadia Facebook page:

"Pincadia proudly acknowledges International Women’s Day today. We are an equal rights, equal pay employer and have gender balance and equity with our staff. Currently however, there is an imbalance in pinball players – especially in competition. We want to encourage more women to play more pinball and we want them to be more empowered to compete in open pinball competitions if they choose.

We are therefore excited to announce that Tanya Lowe is the Organiser and Pincadia is the patron of the first Australian Chapter of Belles and Chimes – Belles and Chimes Brisbane. Our mission is to provide a fun, social environment for women to play pinball together.

We will be launching a series of “girls only” events every second Monday night – next meet is Monday the 26th of March at 7:00 pm. The night will open with a short coaching session that will cover basic skills of pinball play. We will also explain the rule sets of various games and possible strategies to get the best scores. Selected machines will be set on free play for the coaching and competition event and it promises to be a great social event where you can have fun and win prizes. The cost is just $10. Pre-register now and bring a group of friends!"

Well done to Tanya and everyone involved for starting up Brisbane's Belles & Chimes for the ladies. We hope everything goes well!

COOLY CLASSIC & BRISBANE MASTERS

Both Flip Frenzies at the Brisbane Masters are now confirmed to be full. Thank you to everyone for their continued support of the bigger scale events in South East QLD! We are officially taking reserves for both of those events, in case of possible last-minute drop outs. We suggest to put forward your payment for these events when you can, in particular for the Brisbane Masters event, to secure your spot in the players listing.

There is still plenty of space available for the other Brisbane Masters and for all Cooly Classic events if you would like to register for those as well.

This year, both the Cooly Classic and Brisbane Masters go international, with players from New Zealand and the U.S. already registering! And for the ladies out there, don't forget that the Cooly Classic also includes the 2nd Annual Australian Women's Championship to be held on Friday 18th May from 6.30pm. This is open to ANY female players, no matter your skill level or number of previous competitions played.

AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S PINBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Hollie Mills is one our leading ladies on the pinball scene here in South QLD, and recently emailed out this special message calling for all ladies to join us at Coolangatta for the upcoming Australian Women's Pinball Championship:

Hi Ladies!

For those of you I haven’t met - I’m Hollie Mills and I will be assisting Lambo with the Cooly Classic to be held over 3 days in May from the 18th-20th.

On the Friday night the 18th we are hosting a tournament just for women. Last year we had 21 ladies come along and this year I hope to have 30 or more! There will be ladies of all skill levels and abilities - beginners and women who have been playing for years. Girls as young as 13 and women in there 60’s and beyond. The whole point of this event is to bring women together who share a mutual interest, and to enjoy some pinball in a safe, fun, family friendly environment, to have a laugh, a glass of champagne if you choose and celebrate our Silverball Sisterhood.

The cost is $20. There is plenty of accommodation in Coolangatta and public transport that will drop you practically at the door. The excellent people at Timezone Coolangatta have provided us with a fantastic licenced venue to host this event. And I would love to see a great turn out. ❤️❤️

To register or if you have any questions, please let Jason or myself know:

Our next BPC meet is on this Tuesday, 24th April. The following meet on Tuesday 8th May will be a special themed edition of the BPC. Examples may be dressing as the Black Knight, or the Bride of Pinbot, or even one of the characters from the Avengers. Let's see what awesome themes we will see!

That concludes this week's BPC news edition. See you Tuesday night!

Good day one and all!

Welcome to another edition of the BPC news! If you're reading this, then it means we're only 1 sleep away from another BPC meet at Netherworld. Let's get down to business....

The day before the ANZAC Day holiday - wow, what a turnout! There were 59 players in attendance last fortnight, which is simply phenomenal. Loads of new players joining us for the first ever tournament as well, along with a few players playing their first BPC tournament. Some quick hits:

NETHERWORLD PIN-GOLF

Tickets for this event on June 16th & 17th are on sale now as well - https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/pin-golf-tickets-45125790454 . As per the Eventbrite site:

Take a break in the Netherworld club house, pull up your socks and straighten your golf cap, it’s time to play ‘Pin Golf’.

On the weekend of the 16th and 17th of June, you’re invited to tour the Netherworld greens – 18 holes of brisk pinball challenges. At your own pace, you’ll try to achieve unique goals on each pinball machine with the aim to get ‘under par’. Each ball is an extra stroke, so achieving the goal on your first ball is a hole in 1.

Come down anytime on Saturday the 16th from 9am to 6pm to participate and qualify! The finals will be held on Sunday from 9am featuring the best dressed 16 players with the lowest stroke count.

Wear your finest golf wear to earn yourself a free drink in the Club House.

Bountiful prizes for the top 3 places!

Each ticket comes with entry, your first drink, your scorecard, 18 Netherworld games tokens (1 per hole) and a Pin Golf enamel pin designed by Moonshine Madness.

The winner of Pin Golf will walk away with a $500 cash prize!

Pin Golf is an IFPA approved event. Tickets ($30 each) can be grabbed from pingolf.eventbrite.com
