Please note that we are using the % scoring system for this MGL. The highest score in each game will receive 100 points/percent and each player below that score will receive a % of the highest score. The maximum therefore that anyone can score after all eight games are completed is 800 points for 8 wins.

Well after 7 days of opening MGL 21, it was very quiet for the 1st week in the arcade, probably something to do with the popularity of Game 1.

So I turned on 2 more arcade machines and now the buzz has returned to the arcade as it should be.

Heaps of gaming and interesting games to be played. This MGL is full of surprises ?

  • 2 weeks later...

Well after Game 2, this is how the overall scoreboard reads ...

And they thought it was all over after Game 1, just hand it to RMacauley ... boy such a long way to go ...

Anyone who can win one or finish close to the top score in the next games will be right up in the top 5.

6 to go, how wonderful ... :)

Hey OOO,

Why do you have Silver as 3rd place when traditionally Silver is second?

Cheers,

Brad

Third place looks more like blue to me than silver for 3rd place :)

Guessing to get semi-correct colours looks awful in the spreadsheet? :unsure Not that it really matters all that much :lol

EDIT: Here are the RGB colours, by name with hex, RGB & Access values (sorry that's a bit nerdy) :lol http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm

Aging eyes ... it's actually blue for 3rd place ... I also remember you previously used a dark background which made blue very hard to see, so maybe this is how you see silver!

BTW in MGL 20, silver was used as a background colour, so I had to change 2nd place from silver to light yellow.

When MGL 21 came along, I used the same colours for placings as they did not clash with the new background colours, eg olive and light green.

:)

What virus was reported? No Virus reported for me - a false positive report maybe? No matter, it's not really important.

EDIT: Javascript on the page - guessing your virus scanner is overly cautious about Javascript.

If anyone wants to start an AA team I'll join.

I've chucked my name down, I guess just go to the link Wolfman posted and reply. Someone remind me when this starts, cause I'll forget :)

After 9 weeks of gaming, MGL 21 has now come to a close.

The final standings are below:

http://i.imgur.com/lwvr7QO.png

Congratulations to the Top 7 in MGL 21! They all played well and many other players scored some great results. The lead changed several times in each game and on the overall scoreboard.

Congratulations to Barra on his maiden MGL win, the first one for NZ ? and after posting a fine 2nd placing in MGL 20, takes this one out ?

chrisbo, the defending champion, who pipped Barra in MGL20 for the title, played great for a close 2nd placing ? he now has a 2,1,2 finish on his MGL ?belt?.

mark68 played masterfully in his first MGL with some outstanding results and a well earned 3rd place ? not far off 2nd place in 9.28 points.

RMacauley just missed out on another podium finish, short by 7.55 points and into a nice 4th place.

kane played solid throughout, no game wins (very close 2nd on Tetris) and hit 5th on the table of 24 players.

And a special mention to Another Rat, always trying and improving his gaming ? recorded his maiden game win with Pac-Land and improved from 8th place in MGL 20 to 6th place in MGL 21 ? :D

And another to ozfalcon for a fine 7th in this MGL.

With 8 games contested there were 6 different game winners. We played 5 games never played before in a MGL (Willow, Puzzle Bobble 2, Mr Do?s Wild Ride, Tetris and Super Cobra).

All 3 previous MGL records were broken and a new AA record set (Pac-Land by Another Rat, Metal Slug by Barra and Qix by OOO).

The MGL will be back for MGL 22 - Arcade Rescue, in the near future.

Enjoy the IGBY and take care ?

Some really varied games in their, some I really liked, some I've never played, some that were a nice surprise ............and there was Willow too lol.

Favs were Puzzle Bobble , Mr Do's Wild Ride and QIX really took hold of that one more go at the end.

Well done Barra for the win, and to everyone else who pushed themselves and submitted PB's.

Great tournament and well put together OOO.

Congrats Barra. Nice win mate.

I'd like to share a little conversation our Kiwi friend recently had, another Aussie guy picked up this tid bit while Barra was chatting to someone during the recent Pincade tournament:

An Australian ventriloquist visiting New Zealand walks into a pinball convention, outside sits a Kiwi patting his dog:

He figures he'll have a little fun, so he says to the Kiwi:

"G'day, mind if I talk to your dog?"

Barra: "The dog doesn't talk, you stupid Aussie."

Ventriloquist: "Hello dog, how's it going mate?"

Dog: "Yeah, doin' all right."

Barra: (look of extreme shock)

Ventriloquist: "Is this guy your owner?" (pointing at Barra)

Dog: "Yep"

Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"

Dog: "Yeah, real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food

and takes me to the lake once a week to play."

Barra: (look of utter disbelief)

Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your horse?"

Barra: "Uh, the horse doesn't talk either....I think."

Ventriloquist: "Hey horse, how's it going?"

Horse: "Cool"

Barra: (absolutely dumbfounded)

Ventriloquist: "Is this your owner?" (Pointing at Barra)

Horse: "Yep"

Ventriloquist: How does he treat you?

Horse: "Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and

keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements."

Barra: (total look of amazement)

Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your sheep?"

Barra: (in a panic) " Don't believe a word he says, that sheep's a bloody liar.."

It would take a big man to just congratulate you on the win without taking cheap shots at your culture - well I'm not a big man :P

In all honesty, I've watched a lot of your stream, and your determination and ability to work out how games are played is beyond me. Hopefully we get some more Kiwi's in the MGL, would be great to hold an ANZAC comp at some stage.

Congrats Barra. As I predicted Metal Slug killed me (not to mention Willow but you did badly on that one aswell). :)

Well done to mark68. You put in a great showing in your MGL debut.

Thanks, as always, to OOO. You run a mean tournament (and know how to pinch what I thought was a well earned Qix record). :D

Looking forward to the next MGL.

Thanks everyone

Had a blast this tournament! Was really great having the opportunity to learn some new games and play a couple of favourites.

This is by far one of the best tournaments I have played in (the whole MGL in general, not just this one!!). Participation and camaraderie are excellent as well as some banter from the sidelines (right John? :D)

Last but not least, huge props to OOO! You run an outstanding tournament. I will always look forward to the MGLs in the future

Cheers!

Andrew
